Interior is great too
Compared to a Model-T ford?

Japanese interiors suck 99.9% of the time, period.

Hell the 2010 Toyota Camry I had in Florida last week was so pathetically bad, being sick on it would have made the interior a more pleasant place to be, giving it both a softer touch, and a better smell as well as covering up the masses of scratchy hard cheap plastic.

To this date I have nightmares about having to drive a Camry again.

And the funny thing is that in most of the world the Camry represents the best Toyota can do quality wise - the most expensive non 4wd vehicle they sell. I pity anyone who drives a Corolla if the Camry is so awful.

Toyota are great at cars that never, ever, ever, ever, ever break but this appears to be all they are great at in the last 10 years.

2003 + Honda Accord interior is nice in my opinion, I think its nicer than the Mondeo's

Whilst the 1.8 sounds more appealing, it's not really worth it.

I got the 1.8 over the 1.6 and kinda wish i didnt really. Not a great deal in difference between them 0-60 but the 1.8 has a bit more poke once you get to 70-80 which makes it better for motorway driving.

MPG wise, general driving / town driving you will get 35mpg, 37 if you really try hard. Motorway you should manage 40mpg.

I disagree strongly with this in one way, which is the 1.8 is more than worth it. With the 100PS 1.6 feeling horribly underpowered, the 1.8 by contrast seems like a completely different car - it's by no means fast, but it feels like the engine matches the car better and doesn't leave you feeling like you're straining for speed under normal driving conditions.

That said, with my experience, I managed 35-37MPG as Pull said out of the 1.6, but only 27-30MPG out of the 1.8. I have since been told that the 1.8 will do 35MPG in more ideal driving conditions (I live on an Island where every journey is a short one, and there is a lot of stop/start traffic).

So if the economy is good enough for you, I'd definitely consider the 1.8.

exact mpg doesnt bother me, just want something semi-economical
given the local ford dealer a bell and gonna test drive both the 1.6 and 1.8 see whats what.
drive 2 litre diesel focuses for work, imagine petrol will feel a bit different, havent driven a petrol since i passed my test

Well atleast you wouldn't be buying it new!

Why spend so much on a 1.6 focus just to keep you going for only a short while though?

to be honest with a car that new id be happy keeping it until such an age i can get soemthing with a lot of va va voom without chocking on hearing insurance quotes

the idea was to change it next year if iwas going to get a 2004 ish model

I know exactly what you mean and whole heartedly agree in the same way I feel for people who have a superiority complex because they have a mediocre BMW with inter steller mileage just because of the BMW badge

Friends
Relentless81 has not made any friends yet.

Says it all:p

I tend to have real friends rather than try and make them on the internets by agreeing with snobbery and blinkered opinions to try and fit in

All i've done in this thread was post an opinion to the OP, I then agree with Fox on his comment of which Diamond Mark spits his dummy out because he thinks I might of offended him and we cant have that can we Diamond Mark, O'Noes. I actually see reading my post why Diamond Mark thought that but i'll carry on being a nob regardless as he was with me.

Then its ok for Fox to have a sly dig but i'm not allowed one back? Nah, I think i'll have a pop thanks :p

Thinking Toyotas have cheap interiors is neither snobbery nor blinkered.

Thats true, its great to have an opinion, I hate Vauxhalls for instance and diesels but i'm talking in general and i'm not just talking about you either

But that's just blind ignorance and irrational hatred. My thoughts and opinions on Japanese interiors comes from actual experience.

How do you know my thoughts and opinions on Vauxhalls are not based on experiance? "Hate" was a strong word to use actually but you know what I mean.

If they were based on experience you would be able to state which models you have lived with and hated not just blindly state I hate Vauxhall which cannot be based on experience unless you mean you hate them as a company because of some horrific experience but then that would have nothing to do with the quality of their cars so not be relevant..............

So, you've driven every Vauxhall currently manufactured? And blindly dismissing diesels?

Dont be ridiculous, of course I havent I just like like them and I dont like diesels either I have my reasons I dont have to explain them to you or anyone else.

Like I said hate was a strong word, I just dont like them.

Useful. And here was me thinking that rational debate was kind of the point of the forum.

I have an irrational hate of idiots that I can't be bothered to explain. Welcome to my ignore list.
