Turbos

If i could afford to drop 50k on a car, maybe try import a NSX-R but doubt thats doable for 50k.

TVR Sagaris probably or a Ferrari 355, or a Nissan GTR if i was feeling more sensible, the only turbo i would have.

Apart from the GTR none of those you can use every day, that is the secret to a Porsche, there is nothing else that goes that well and does everything else so well that you can drive every day.

Why can't i drive a NSX every day? It's supposed to be the useable supercar? or for that matter a 355? or a TVR?

Tell me whats the scret to the Porsche and using it everyday? Is it the massive boot it has? lol.

No its the fact it dosent break down every 5 minutes, the usable space and general all round excellence.

You can also hit a pot hole or 2 without another 1000 pound geo set up once a month like you do in a Ferrari.

Iv tried these things honestly i know.

See all those people you see driving 911's? Its not an accident, they bought them because they are superb.

Cars as good as it's owner. Sagaris is the last TVR made, sure ive not got one, but if i can afford 50k on a car, the running costs would not bother me, and it wouldn't be anything like most people seem to think of TVR's, i.e one's from the 90's.

A porsche is not cheap to run by any stretch. An NSX would be far more reliable than a beetle.

I wouldn't give a **** about running costs, it's a 355, i don't expect it to be like a RS6 and swallow a massive shop, etc.

The sagaris would be worth it for the looks and noise, and i hear it's quite nippy to.

The thing is, whilst the GTR is an awesome car, it struggles doing the hard stuff for any length of time.

A friend of mine took his to the 'ring, and managed something like a 7:35 lap, but went on to have to spend an hour nursing it up and down the road trying to cool it down.

Something like a 996 GT2 (which could be had for ~50k I'm sure) wouldn't be as quick for that first lap, but it'll do it all day long.

If you extend the N/A Vs Turbo argument to supercars it becomes even less rosey.

Surely you'd agree that the NA engines used in supercars have somewhat different characteristics to the low displacement revvy 4 pots that we seem to be primarily discussing?

Its got nothing to do with running costs, its got everything to do with trips on the back of the RAC lorry.

Also Porsches are reasonable compared to Ferrari running costs.

Where did i say id have a DC5 over a porche?

Dunno but I would, Porches aren't that expensive these days as builders are working cheaper due to the recession, besides I think houses look nicer without porches :P

I don't understand, you would really like the NSX-R but thats not doable for under 50 grand so you would take a Ferrari 355, a car that was inferior to the standard NSX (20-30 grand these days) in just about every way?

Its not inferior, one is an Italian masterpiece and the other is a point and squirt jap thing with a dire interior ;)

Yes, the Ferrari is a Ferrari.

The NSX is more like a high end 'any other' Honda than a super car. It walks the walk, but fails to talk the talk.

I think your getting wrapped up in either Ferrari love or Honda hate, let me put it in perspective for you, the was a reason the NSX was considered to be in a league above similar priced jap sports cars of the day like the 300ZX, Supra TT, GTO and RX7 at the time. It was designed to be better that Ferrari's 328, a lot of work went into the design, Ayrton Senna was the test driver, and by the time it was released Ferrari had moved on to the 348 however the NSX destroyed it around a track, it was more reliable, had better styling and handled better and best of all it was cheaper, what more could you want.

To top it off Ferrari followed the 348 with the 355 and then the 360 neither of which could match the track times of the top of the range NSX-R despite being more expensive, eventually it took the stripped down 360CS with 100bhp more than the NSX to match its Nurburgring time.

I understand that the NSX is today an old car but please don't sell it short

Alright kid. Tell me how you've got on with Sagaris? Thought so...........

How the hell does the NSX fail to walk the walk mike? Your right, your Focus would beat it.

It's hardly a super car is it. From what I am reading the standard NSX does 0-60 in over 5 seconds.

Hahah nice edit, originally said the NSX did it in 7.3, haha. What a fool.

It's 20 years old you dork. The NSX-R did it in 4.4 i think.

The NSX was almost as quick as a 355, im sure there ae videos on you tube. it has excellent traction of the line.

Besides it's a cool car something different, something your dumbass wouldn't understand.

Calling Mike kid is an interesting one :p

Sagaris is the best of the Speed Six TVRs reliability wise, but it's hardly a failsafe? The engine still will likely blow up with a 6k rebuild at some point, there will be niggly electrical issues, you probably will end up getting locked out by the immobiliser. I adore TVR an idiotic amount but they are just not an every day car unless you have bottemless pockets to get the whole car pretty much rebuilt, or a very flexible "daily routine" :p
