So I think the rules prohibit me talking about said retailer but came across this over the weekend:

The Ultimate Gamers Reward Card:
***********
Are you the best of the best? Think you've got what it takes? Well now is YOUR chance to join the highest order of gamers and it's time to earn the greatest of rewards. The *********** Elite wants you - Enlist Today!

*********** ELITE - WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?
Games are amazing - fact! So to make them even more amazing here's what a new recruit into the *********** Elite will get:

BUYING NEW & PRE-OWNED
You will receive 2.5% of every purchase* back onto your *********** Elite card in the form of Experience Points (XP). So let's break that down; if a game costs you £39.99 then you will receive 400 XP which can then be spent against your next purchase or saved for something uber cool.

TRADE-IN
The fun doesn't stop there though... Firstly, do you trade-in you old games for money off new ones? If not, why? And secondly, with the ***********Elite Card you'll receive an extra 2.5% of your trade-in value back onto your card as well! Example: Let's say that you trade-in a game worth £25, you'll then receive an additional 250 XP onto your card for the next time you shop. That means you get more money back for simply being a member of the *********** Elite - Now that is cool!

Now if you add both of the examples above together, you are going earn some serious XP.

HOW MUCH ARE XP WORTH?
100XP = 25p
400XP = £1
800XP = £2
And so on, get it? Good!

SPENDING XP
You can spend XP however you wish with the minimum spend being 400 XP (£1) through to the entire value of your purchase (if you have enough XP of course!) You can check how much XP you have available to spend by going in-store and telling a member of staff you would like to check your *********** Elite balance.

SO HOW DO I ENLIST?
The *********** Elite is currently only available in-store. We will be coming online shortly so watch this space. In the meantime get down to your local *********** store and follow the simple steps below:

1. Speak to a member of staff and tell them that you are ready to enlist into The *********** Elite!
2. You will then be asked to provide some Elite details at till point
3. You card will be activated immediately
4. Remember to use your card every time you buy or trade-in

But before you go, that's not everything... Think you've got the Speed of the Puma? Fancy Unleashing The Beast? Well now's your chance - Click here to see a list of the *********** Elite Accolades you can complete to earn even more XP. See, we told you this was The Ultimate Gamer's Reward Card!

I have a reward card for what I can assume is the sister store because I do buy from them now and again and its nice to get something for nothing, so I would get one.

Encouraging people (read: kids) to trade in games within 14 days of there release so the shop can stick them on the shelves with a lowly £2 off the new price really annoys me. £2 isn't that good a saving but the staff push it so that the shop makes more money.

It just stinks of pushing people to trade in to maximise profits on second hand stuff.

So after 5 years worth of using the service they give you what 2000XP which equates to about £5. LOL! They will have made boat loads off you after 5 years of using this.

I got one of these today and got a leaflet with it.

Traded in God of War 3 for £17 (I only paid £9 for it and they price matched with CEX) and already got 400xp which = £1.

Also, according to my leaflet I will get 2000xp when the entire Elite community accumulates 2,000,000,000 XP. The more people who get one the better it is for everyone and since it costs nothing where's the problem?

I use this shop quite a lot for trade-ins, they price match and beat by £1 on every item.

Can't complain when its free!

I picked up this leaflet the other day.

Doesn't seem too rewarding to me, but each to their own.

So what's to stop you buying 2 copies of GoW and then selling both of them, then using that money to buy more copies of different games and trading in for even more money? Have I uncovered real life hax or something?

Nothing I suppose, if you can find it that cheap, I didn't buy GoW from them, I got it elsewhere. But since you're only getting store credit to use there its hardly going to make much of a profit :p

Store credit can buy PS3's? which can then be sold on fleebay for proper money :)

I suppose if you can find enough cheap games that you can trade in for a higher price you might eventually make a profit. I think they might refuse more than a few copies of the same game though. CEX have a max of 5 of the same item unless they agree to anything more.
