Chilean rescue mission on BBC news in 6 hours

These guys have missed a trick - that rescue capsule should have been covered in sponsors :)
Hope it all goes well for the Chilean dudes.

didnt know it was starting so early.... its great that they can get out or at least have a chance, it could have so easily been 30+ miners dead.....which i wouldnt wish on anybody.

Epic setting for this rescue...I totally wanna travel to Chile to see that desert.

By the way this rescue is all thanks to an American & his team (both Chilean and American)..his drill was the one that broke through. I admire this dude because as soon as he made sure that all was well...he left. He doesnt want any glory...in fact as you watch this rescue he is on the plane back home. Hats off to him.

Also major props to the rescue dude who have slaved away relentlessly...:)

And of course all the best to the miners...!

i really hope this has a happy end but all it takes is for a load of rock to become dislodged and the hole will be blocked, surely it would be better to have designed a way of carrying > 1 person at a time?

It's lined with concrete isn't it? It's not just a 'raw' hole.

+1

BBC News are seriously not good at reporting breaking news, there have been many instances in the past and recently where they just aren't quick off the mark with getting reporters/camera person out on the field. They do not have the man power that Sky news has.

If you have cable or Sky then do yourself a favour and watch Sky news, putting up with the adverts is worth it.

other then their speed to get to the news first, what else would you say is worth switching over to sky for? once bbc get the story surely it's best to go with bbc as no adverts and same news?

I don't even think we're gonna get to see anything.

Not that there is much to see to be honest but it's strangely intriguing.

Those capsules look great...fully kitted out with lights, fibre optics, comms systems, camera, O2 tanks, biometric monitoring....man them Chileans dont mess about!!! Brilliant rescue effort.

Looks like the rescue only begins at about 0200hrs or so our time. Stupid work would love to have stayed up and watched what is going to be a historic event.
