Turbos

Its all about perception, im not sure if i would call a NSX a supercar or not. Probably not as it goes, for exactly the same reason i wouldnt have a Lexus in any shape or form over a Jag/Merc/BMW.

It's definitely a personal thing, everybody has their own perception of what a supercar is, so with no hard and fast rules it's easy to twist preferred marques or models into the supercar category.

The 911, R8, Z06 etc are not supercars, but you'll see them referred to as such in plenty of places. The NSX doesn't cut it either, but that's my opinion...someone like LJK, somebody who knew better than most what a supercar is, would tell me different. Not being a supercar is in no way a detraction from the Honda, I'd much rather have a NSX than a few bona fide supercars I can think of.

Wasn't that some "gentlemans agreement" in Japland about bhp not being more than 280bhp officially? I know it's not the case now.

There was an agreement & officially manufacturers adhered to it - but certainly NSX's dyno'd above those figures.

I'm not greedy - all I want is a nice facelift with some yummy wheels.

Yeah the Japan Automobile Manufacturers' Association (JAMA) imposed a 280bhp power ceiling in the late 80's in order to avoid an arms race among its manufacturers. Back in those days the big advantage Japanese cars had over European/American makers was a reputation for reliability and with bhp figures rising (i.e 275bhp from the twin turbo '86> series Supra) they were worried that soon the would be quad turbocharged Japanese cars breaking down on every street corner and their country's reputation would be in shambles so they implemented the power ceiling.

What was most awesome though is that you lot are on here all night too, dont you people sleep? I get paid for posting on here, you lot do it in your free time!

I'm renumerated handsomely for my posting as well, I dare say most people are, if I'm at my computer and not playing games I'm working & earning :)

for the record I wouldn't buy an NSX, I love them but if I had the money for one I'd take a lambo instead, personal preference

I was wondering if anyone would justify what I said to themselves, I was messing around I log in at weekends etc too

I think a lot of people who use sites like this tend to have jobs where they are sat in front of a computer all day and have time to kill

I'm not renumerated handsomely though :(

R8 or NSX ?

Easy choice really.

Depends what floats your boat, ninja handling or brute force.

That said I was once following a 92 plate NSX on the M5 when he booted it from 100mph and to this day I don't think I've ever seen anything move so quickly.

My first job paid £4,250 a year - I'd want that a month nowadays.

That said - I think I had more disposable income back then than I have now!

Yup, I remember earning £320 a month about 12 years ago and I was LOADED, in the pub three times a week and shopping everyweekend ah stuff the NSX I want a time machine

Get to 88mph and break the temporal barrier, that's defiantly better than vtec ^^

Im I correct in saying the had to put a Porsche engine in the one in the movies because the stock one couldn't get to 88mph inside the films running time? :P

yeah i heard the original delorean suffered torque issues so they shoe horned a decent engine in.

not remotely relevant here though...
