Someone how an anitivius has been installed on my work pc without my knowledge, turns out its malware and all its trying to ge me to do is register its software ie pay. I assume if i do then all the problems will go away then magically re-appear when its due for an anual renewal.

I get windows security alerts saying I have trojans and virus every couple of minutes. Explorer and firefox browser gets redirected to their website, its stopping me from using most installed programmes as I get a secuirty alert .exe file is infected. I cant uninstall it as its not listed in remove programmes.

The website is antispyroad I have googled its name and their are a mumber of ppl who are having the same problems as me. Please whatever you do dont visit their website as I would hate for anyone else to get this.

Any ideas?

google is your friend if its like the virus i had which its sounds like it is it takes a lot of research reading on google,if i remember i had to delete entries in the registry, also go into msconfig and see if there any weird entries that are under your startup items,cc cleaner is a good program for doing this.

Also run Spybot and malware bytes

Install and run Malware Bytes (and Combofix, depending on your OS)

Usually gets rid of most of these things. If it won't run in normal mode, run it in safe mode first and then again in normal mode.

If neither of these do anything it is time to get anything important off there and reinstall Windows.

What security did you have on the computer before it got infected?

Eset, currenlty doing a full scan and its at 96% and it has detected it and isolated it but as of yet its still being an annoying little so and so.

Lol, its just popped up a website for viagra!

You will prob find Nod will detect it but will not be able to remove it

You can also try a system restore to a previous date.

ComboFix and Malware Bytes are definitely worth running.

I'd run ComboFix in Safe Mode though. Malware Bytes you can run in normal mode - make sure you update it before scanning, ensure you do a full scan and not a quick one. The quick scan is next to useless.

The redirects and popups are annoying as ****

I worked on a machine a while ago that did this all the time even after the main nasties were removed. Turned out to be a nice little rootkit hiding

Time to go home. I have isolated the pc from the network and left it doing a virus scan. I let I emailed ESET and they have emailed me back saying they will help me remove it If I call them.

Thats it untill tomorrow.
