Just wondering if people are still playing CS: Source I played the original on my old PC and really enjoyed it, just wondering if its newer sibling is still widely played?

Its a lot of fun to play, especially with a few mates across the net (many a saturday has been wasted on it playing friends back home in england and from the republic all at the same time).

I find the format and style of game play is more compelling than playing tf2 sometimes too (might give it a bash later on)

Make sure you get i980x and quadfire 5970's to get the best out the game :D.

Honestly though I like playing it, play for 5 minutes or 10 mintues where with BC2 and COD I feel like I cannot do that, I end up playing for an 1 hour at least :)

Still can't find a good enough FPS to take over form my CS:S addition. Nothing quite like a game that requires tactics/understanding AND skill.

Just don't assume you can run around and point your crosshair on someones head for them to die. (*cough* COD *cough*) the recoil requires stationary fire and aim increases while ducking etc.

Well worth buying, still being updated to this day too.. new crosshair engine came out two days ago allowing full control of transparency/color/size/thickness etc. And new (official) map adjustments to be introduced shortly.

No.1 most played FPS multiplayer... STILL.

Well thanks for the recommendation, just bought the Source Pack with Counterstrike: Source and Day of Defeat Source loving it!
Day of Defeat reminds me of the months I spent playing Call of Duty 2 and 3 on XBOX Live, absolutely brill!!

I think I'll be downloading the original Counterstrike and Day of Defeat to play on my net book while I'm away!!

I've only recently started playing it and its great, it seems a lot more skilled based / balanced than Call of Duty, although it takes a while to get used to the gameplay and controls. I only paid £4 for it as well in the steam summer deals :D

Yeah it is a fast paced game especially when you are a noob:D. I remember when I first started playing it 4 years back. I kept getting shot and didn't know where the bullets were coming from and my score was something like 5 kills and 23 deaths lol:D. But now I can comfortably reach 22-28 kills with 8-9 deaths.

The original omaha map on day of defeat was the dogs danglies

This! Was an epic map, if it's the one I'm thinking of.

Beach (obviously) with 2 or 3 points of entry through the wire you had to blast thorugh. Then two bunkers on the cliff with an exit to the left covered by another sandbag/bunker emplacement?

And on the right a wall to destroy which led to the inside of the bunker complex?

Find a decent public 100tic server and you'll love it! DoD:Source is still one of my favourite games of all time.

yeah but the one where you could break through the wall, was the second version of it. the first version was the best.
