I have to say I sort of agree with this.

We are all born racist and we all die racist. It's just survival instinct.

Most people just learn to lie because it makes life easier.

That's all well and good, but it relies on a specific interpretation of what integration requires and we currently have no such definition.

Some think it is simply being able to communicate effectively and following the laws enshrined in our society and this I agree with, but a growing section of our society think it should require them to remove some if not all aspects of their own cultural heritage and integrate in a way that is frankly impractical.

Therein lies the problem.

It is obvious in my experience that one side, on a lot of occasions, are not willing to do their part.

What massive upheaval? The only bad experience I've had with immigration is listening to bigoted idiots go on about it.

So how exactly has it negatively effected you in a way that could be be at the very least described as a 'massive upheaval'. Other than you having sand in your vagina over everything the Daily Mail prints of course.

I agree, but then I live in an extremely affluent community in Salisbury where immigration (besides a few Eastern Europeans beginning to creep in) doesn't affect me very much. It may be different if I lived in an impoverished inner city environment with a large migrant community such as Southall or Bradford.

The same can be said however for those who refuse to accept that people do not always conform to your way of life, people do not generally like change regardless of the nature of it.

Yes. Thanks. I can understand why religious issues might be difficult when integrating between a country and multi-cultures within the country. It's a shame that something like that is a major issue in modern times.

I agree, however the Burka is a cultural issue and not a religious one. It is just one example of misunderstanding leading to discrimination.

But the problem is though this is the way of life. For example a smoker is in a non smokers car you don't just smoke in the car and say " your refusing to conform" Immigrants come to this country because of what it has to offer. Different countries have different cultures so they should choose one which most suites them. It seems a lot of immigrants just come for the money and expect the people who live there to adapt. If i was to go into a Chinese restaurant i wouldn't order pizza.

No and yes? The Burka came about as a result of a hijab in the Quran and has been interpreted to be dressed in this manner as a cultural necessity but I get your meaning. At least that's how I thought it was...

The references to the Quran only state that women should dress in a modest manner. The only reference specifically to the Hijab or Khimar as it is known in the Quran is in reference to covering their Bosom. Which is kind of understandable.

Remember that Islam came after the culture it is based upon and the Hijab and traditions like it pre-date Islam by several centuries.
