Nvidia Shenanigans again?

Noooo, no i have no personal vendetta against anybody :) i dont take in a lot of whats posted on these forums any more, mostly because the most prolific posters are so jaded and skewed in their views and opinions that it's hard to get an honest to god truthful reply to anything. I do however notice again and again just how much Raven... exaggerates. Since buying that 480 he's slated xfire, the drivers in general (including but not limited to the clockspeed issues), tessellation..its just sad reading the same things over and over again and no Raven that isnt just limited to you, loads of people do it on here.

I mean think what new members must think when they are bombarded with people slating this that and everything, it must be hard for them to get a decent answer from anybody, let alone somebody like myself.

Here's a thought - if raven was a neutral as he claims, he should have been able to stand back and look at the cards, all of them, objectively. I cant say i've ever seen him do that, honestly ? Me I just play the odd game on my 5850 and hand on heart, i can not fault it. Ive not had any driver issues, the clocking doesnt bother me as i use afterburner and in doing so i dont even notice the 'problem', it plays almost everything i throw at it... I dont really need anything else. I've also been honest about every other card ive owned, nvidia or ati....or sis lol, and what i do not do is judge any product before ive seen the real world reviews of them, because that is frankly foolish.

lol he's bringing up posts from way back in April, which I have since said I was wrong to make, guess some just have a beef for whatever reason. Best to ignore " as I am from now on " or RTM if you feel the posts are abusive.
I'll take you up on that, it about time these sorts of problems were sorted out. As far as your old posts go, the issue a lot of people have is that they are a perfect polar opposite of what you are doing now. First is was nothing but praise for ATi, then its nothing but praise for nvidia, and the opposite for the contender in each case. Reality is somewhere in the middle of both views but you arent seeing it - thats why people see you the way they do.

lol any mod can go though my post over the past few months, there is nothing but honest posting " stating my opinions within OCUK forum rules "and helping others out. Maybe a mod should deal with the trouble makers looking for reactions and confrontation, sorry you won't get the latter from me because I know that's what you're after. ;)

Now this is my last post on your " throw the toys from the pram " episode.;)

!

I dont want an argument, confrontation. whatever, i just want you to understand what it is that you're doing. If you think i want an argument then its you who doesnt know me lol.

winky faces and goading statements about toy throwing (well off the mark btw) from yourself would suggest quite the opposite of 'not wanting an argument', i might add.

I am not saying who is right and wrong but i see a lot more biased posting on here from others these days than i do from Raven of late

Dont i know it, there's a list as long as my arm i'm sure lol.

even Rroff said there's pro's and cons about the way ati are trying to implement tesselation and he's bang on the mark for that. But that isnt good enough for other posters here? no, that isnt right imo and that does show you just how far those 'other people' will take it.

Yeah it's his little problem not mine, as said I knew my behavior in the past was not the best and I have been reminded by MODs about it way back when, that's why he digs up posts from months back because he's got nothing recent to drag up, except my views on tessellation lol.

Well the below post would certainly seem that you do, in my book you don't say that someone of full of #£$% and call them a two faced liar, and not expect some form of response.

you slated the 480gtx, Raven. Slated it. and now you own one.

you are absolutely chock-a-block full of bile. You are seen as just about the most impressionable two faced liar on these forums today.

of course i expected a response, if i didn't i wouldn't have posted anything , i just dont think it needs to be argument. at the same time i should have worded that post better - it was my observation rather than flat-out calling him names or calling his sister a **** or some such nonsense (i dont even know if he has a sister and im sure shes not a **** if he does lol) :)

well, you also seem to be posting only pro-nvidia news and arguing in threads that arent pro-nvidia? you also post anti-Amd (ati) threads but nothing anti-nvidia. There's plenty of examples Raven, i'm not like i have to clutch at straws :)

I think that this just went from a Discussion about how different companies use there influence in this case nvidia to try and poison there rivals in this case ati by pushing software that may favour one over the other, to two guys the nvidia fan boy who needs to learn about not making informed comments or the guy who should have just let it go because the guy obviously does not really care and is only trying to get a rise out of people.

In my opinion last years gpu release showed me one thing ati did much better in terms of sales and in terms of design compared to nvidia with everyone of ati card (ignoring the 5830 which was not a great hit) doing very well while the nvidia cards proved to be too power hungry, hot and expensive when compared to there ati counterparts (apart from the 460 which was a last ditch effort after all and certainly paid off for them).

I think this year will be interesting, i think this year nvidia will try a lot harder with there release and i can expect some great cards to come out, on the other hand i do think ati have been hard at work as well to continue with there sucess of last year

That took along time to write...

My only problem with AMD was their Crossfire drivers, some months like 10.4 they were amazing, and then they went bad for a bit.

I'd like to say it cant be that difficult to get two cards working in unison....but clearly at least for AMD it is :p

Agreed though, they need to sort that out. It really isnt good enough to be spending i dont know, £400 on two cards only to be faced with those sorts of problems. Not that you should expect anything less that rock solid drivers with cheap cards, but doubley-so with £2-400 worth of card - there shouldnt be ANY show stopping problems.

ATi's drivers arent perfect, not when it comes to xfire thats for sure. multi-card gaming and power scaling are something AMD need to sort out and...take a leaf out of nvidia's book.

See raven and miller there was a point you were supposed to stop and you have clearly past it ...

as i type this look who posts^^

So the benchmark uses standard (more extreme) tessalation that hurts ATI more then Nvidia so ATI ask for a change but Ubisoft refuse.

Maybe Ubisoft doesn't want to lower the IQ of the benchmark for ATI's sake, after all it is a benchmark and as such designed to bring cards to their knees with ridiculous settings.

a thought:

it would be useful if we could see the difference between high levels of tessellation and normal but we cant - so i see little point in releasing software that exploits the performance of a card that copes with such levels, other than to willy wave and point the finger underhandedly.

a question:
Secondly, correct me if im wrong, but do we know that Ati's optimisations are at the expensive of IQ ?
