Looks very *****! Avoid.

My head hurts :(, shows how frigging sad I am browsing ocuk on my phone while I'm out on the lash!

Sport bumper with M3 Evo lip.
M3 mirrors (likely reps)
MV2s

Can't see much else as it's all fuzzy...I wouldn't say it's ***** but it's not a standard car. Get some engine bay shots, as well as all sides, rear arches and interior.

Hard to find 328i or even many e36s without M3 Evo lips on the Sport skirts to be quite honest, a lot of cars have the M3 mirrors too. Hence them not being too big a deal but need other pics too really. In decent clear quality.

Cool, she told me about the bumpers and wing mirrors before, I'm not fussed by them.

I'll see if I can get down with the DSLR tomorrow.

So when you said standard, you meant not at all standard?

Those wheels don't suit the car at all, real or otherwise, just get a Leon cuprammonium

Ok. It's a stupid purchase for a considerable amount of money. The M52 isn't the most reliable of engines, and the associated problems of the cooling system being made of Swiss cheese, and the nikasil issues and you've essentially got a ticking time-bomb with multiple fuses ready to ignite. Certainly not a car to be mechanically lax with on a shoestring budget.

Is the M52 engine really as bad as some people have made out compared to say the M50 units found in later cars?

I've specifically seen people completely avoid later car when it comes to building something for track days. The 325i always seems to get the nod instead, and has the reputation (certainly in the circles I'm familiar with) to be a little bit bomb proof?

My dad has a 323i which hasn't caused too many problem, certainly not anything cooling system related. My only concern is that the engine seems to thrive on high revs which is something that annoyed with me a manual box, I think an auto would drive me insane. That's unless of course the 323 and 328 offer completely different driving characteristics, which is something I just can't see?

I guess.

Does this mean people are correct when they call the Fabia vRS "fast"?:(

Of course it is fast. We are talking about normal cars here, not out and out performance road vehicles. Also the car I was comparing it against was only 1 sec faster.

I think the main weakness with the M52 versus the M50 is when you cook the head gasket it's never the same again, and some people argue it can never really be properly repaired to how it was before, whereas with the M50 it's dead easy.

Can't agree with you there.

"Only" a second? That's pretty much an eternity when we are talking about things like this. You will notice a second in a 0-60 sprint unless you've got a wrapped sense of speed and acceleration.

8 seconds to 60 is by no means fast. Diesel repmobiles will be making you their ***** at the traffic light GP.

Yes, newer diesels will be as fast, but they aren't 15 years old are they....

If you fancy it go for it, but not without expecting bills. Cant really say more than the others have said in here.

Bushes.a common complaint on all bmws and that most people appear to be oblivious to.

Diff mount and prop donut can cause a thump when you pull off and change gear, nearly all the e36 i have been in do this.

Heatshields rattling, again common.

Heater only working on full, common, easy fix but fiddly.

Rust on boot and rear arches.

Lack of low down power on the m52 could indicate a sensor or more than likely the vanos unit/seals.

The bottom line is they cost a lot to keep right and a lot of people scrimp along and ruin them.

Could I interest you in a coupe instead? ;)

I don't buy that age is a good enough defence either. Fast should be fast, no graded on a curve.

Umm, ok, whatever.
Mondeo 2ltr diesel - 9.6s 0-60. Given that's more than a second slower, I think you are talking crap.

Also, you are comparing technology from 15 years ago to diesels that have improved significantly in recent years.
