You break the speed limit a lot then I guess.![]()
You hardly ever bury the throttle from 0-60 (I agree), but you often do it from 60 to 160?
I think the ability to keep pulling past 120-130mph isn't really that important, there are very few opportunities for most people to hit those speeds safely (in both real safety and law terms) on public roads.
Says he who puts more credence on 60-160![]()
maybe for you it is, but for me it would be slow and boring
True most places where you can accelerate from a standstill are mainly 30mph zones, so if your hitting 60mph from standstill in such zones tut tut. Most NS roads don't have traffic lights as not built up areas, hence why they are NS, that was my point.![]()
or waiting at roundabouts that lead into a dual carriageways! or we talking a straight 0-60?![]()

So 60-100mph in a tuned ST with cira 280BHP is what, 8s?
[TW]Fox;17640118 said:Did I just read in this thread that a Focus ST is M3 quick from 40 to 100?
we were quoting 60-100. of 8s for a mountune Focus ST.
Drivers repubic timed it at 0-100 of 14s.
M3 E90 does 60-100 in about 5.2 apparently. So no, its not M3 quick
E46 M3 did it in 6.7 s
0-60 sec times are for boy (traffic light) racers
A well setup car with ONLY a 0-60 time of 8 seconds could go round corners very well. So could easily be faster than some phat American car that has a 0-60 time of say 7 seconds or even less.
What makes a car a fast car is the overall performance (including handling). Just being able to go fast from 0-60 means zilch IMO. Straight line performance is also boring, carrying speed around the corners is where the fun comes in and applying the power at the right time.
