G-Star / Hollister / Superdry

I remember many years ago crap brands like Lee (and many others) would cost like £15-20 for a pair of jeans in store like C&A and now you see them in Selfridges and Urban Outfitters for like £50 a pair :p

Depends what you define as cheap. But for clothes these brands are cheap compared to things like ralph lauren for example!
Like my superdry bag was £50, while im currently using a Camel Active wallet worth like £60 lol

is that the rucksack, did the plastic film on your zips all peel away?.. im so annnoyed at how poor quality my bag was

id say diesel , firetrap, henleys (if your small) and g-star are the main ones. i tend not to touch fred perry , bench etc as its so much more mass marketed and i find their style pretty backwards.

Superdry can be expensive but that is due to the fact they offer premium leather products such as boots and jackets. And on the other hand, they offer a basic t-shirt for a reasonable price. They sell bags/satchels for £60 which isn't too bad but some people may assume differently.

I agree with Firetrap being mainsteam and quite common but i disagree with Fred Perry being a complete chav brand.

Scrolling through the above...you can see the 'p[remium trend/vintage' style products but you can also see the basic t-shirts that will end up in TK Maxxx in a few seasons time.

I looked up G-Star as i was curious about the name. According to Wiki, the brand was called Gap Star but it was changed when going international...probably due to another popular brand. :p

Bench are awfully bland.

FWIW, hollister dump stock that's end of season into countries that they dont sell mainstream in. This helps protect the brand, as their stuff doesnt end up in TK MAXX

Getting off the train at Reading station on Friday morning, I saw no less than 6 Superdry hoodies being worn. Superdry is officially not cool anymore.

Superdry was never cool anyway, it's similar in nature to GIO GOI, Rockport, Firetrap, G-Star... Chavvy and common.

Having said that I'm sat in a Ralph Lauren zip-through jumper, Paul Smith jeans and a Primark t-shirt. Odd setup.

I don't care what anyone says, the 'Osaka 6' t-shirt is a cool t-shirt, no matter how common it is.

I think superdry do some great shirts too, as they seem to fit me very well.

I think there are exceptions to the rule with every brand. I buy nice clothes regardless of label. I bought a lyle and scott shirt last week for a pricey sum, yet bought a primark shirt today.

If only I could afford to shop in Ted Baker :p

Tbh, i don't care about the brand. I am wearing a GAP hoodie i got in the sale for £12, a pair of Diesel Larkees Jeans, and some GAP Tshirts that's £8 each and a Superdry jacket.

I like to mix and match :)

It was "superdry-o-rama" on the Central Line today, I saw so many peeps wearing those jackets! I don't like their style though otherwise I'd go for them despite their popularity.
They must be popular for a reason right?

Superdry is leagues ahead in terms of fashion and design in comparison to the other brands you listed.

My advise would be to look into Diesel, Nudie jeans, All Saints, Abercrombie and Fitch, Barbour, Ralph Lauren and Ted Baker.

It goes without saying that obviously some people on here have absolutely no fashion sense and are shocked by a product that costs more than a tenner.

To those suggesting Henleys....please don't come back to this thread

Superdry and Henleys are much of a muchness.

Were you saying that Superdry were 'leagues ahead' of Paul Smith and Ralph Lauren??

No, I was referring to the brands you compared Superdry to.

Superdry is reasonably fashionable, affordable and of good quality. Of course Ted Baker, All Saints, Nudie are nicer but the price tag is generally much higher.

Henleys is ****
