Just stumbled across this one so thought I would update with my new eyefinity setup.



All I need now is a nice new mount for the screens, a new chair and a new desk would be nice :)

How do you keep your machine running at an acceptable temperature in that ATCS 210 ? ...since they only have a couple of 80mm extractors fans and no intake at all.
 
cpu idle is low 40's and tops out 65 ish (q6600 @ 3gz) I have converted the top fan to 120mil from 80 mil (which is extracting air). The rear exhaust is still the bog standard 80 mil jobbie but is pulling air from outside straight onto a Freezer 7 cooler. Before the 5850 I was running a pair of 3870's in there and even then temps wern't a problem, the top card used to idle in the 40's and the bottom in the 30's, the 5850 idles at 42 hitting 70's when being really pushed.

Temps arnt a problem at all, in fact I have had the case what must be near on 10 years and still love it to this day. Good cable management and adaquate cooling is all thats needed. :) If we could dig out the Watercooled case gallery of 2004/5 you would also see custom water in this very case with a barton 2500+.

On a side note... One day I will find a case that looks half as good as the ATC 210 with equal build quality. When I do I will consider a new case.

Hmm ok, I have exactly the same case myself, it's been sitting in the loft for years, I just started trying to sell it recently since I don't use it, I didn't think it'd be able to cool a modern system properly (well not one with a decent graphics card at least, be fine for a server or HTPC though or someone that doesn't use a powerful gpu), it could hardly cope when I last used it which would have been with a Thoroughbred core Athlon XP, years and years ago.

Maybe I'll see how it 'really' handles at some point then, because it's a lovely case.

It's worth a shot, I would see if you cant get a 80-120mil converter in there, with some work with a file I managed to get it between the top of the case and the top cd bay. I will take a pic later and update in here. Its a squeeze but did wonders at bringing my temps down.

As for the card, clearly this case wouldn't be up for a pair of GTX280's but it copes admirably with my 5850 right up to 1050 core which is when things seem to get a little toasty.

I've been inspired to have another look then ...I'm only running a single GTX260 so nothing mega.

Pictures of exactly what you've done would certainly be handy :)

Hey mate, sorry for the phone pic again but here is the inside of the 210.



At the top of the 210 there is a an 80 mil fan in in a cage, if you take the fan out and secure an 80-120 adapter up there you get just enough clearance for the fan. The back fan you could get just enough clearance for a converter which would make a nice 120mil pulling air through the cooler. I didnt bother with that though as 24/7 i don't run a big oc on my card but i do keep the q6600 at 3ghz which is the max my board will give :(

I did indeed matey, I took them all out, went down to my local hardware store and got some slightly longer screws, a few washers and open ended bolts (not the closed ended locking nuts). secured it up and its good to go.

The desk is from around the same era as my case so were talking in the region of 10 years old again. If i remember rightly it was a good few years before It finally wound me up enough to do something about it.

Got my new racing wheel today so am quite excited (F430 replica). The one in the pics lasted 3 days in the hands of me and a few mates before biting the bullet, several buttons now don't work and it clicks and makes god awful noises when turning... the worst part is I can't remember where I put the recipt and only bought it on the 22nd. Ahh well I suppose I will just suck that one up £30 well spent for the fun it provided, a load of mates came over and we had a team time trial on the old f1, brilliant fun, if not a bit competative and aggressive at times.

I did the same, had to carry the glass up to a second floor flat. Very interesting indeed, not quite as interesting as a 4 and a half foot fish tank but still fun was had. :)
