OCZ PSU's

seasonic are good
go for the 750 watt xfx not 650
i believe it is also 80+ certified
and it will last you for long time
whats your budget
if you can get a seasonic one
then get a seasonic rather an xfx
and look for 80+ gold certified if you can stretch

why say that? not sure if ill ever use the extra 100 wat, as i use ati cards and its another £20 of the cost, 30% extra for just 100w dont seem worth it, unless its a better psu

Only really want to spend around £70 - £80

yeah i see they have them on offer at the mo... would everyone agree that the OCZ is a better branded PSU that seasonic?

bout the same price when u factor in postage costs, why oh why ocuk cant do free postage on orders over £50 like the orang3e company do il never know, id buy so much more stuff from here if they did

bit of a bind though, waiting a year and 100 posts, and im assuming thats each month like Are as free method....

Perhaps i am being impatient as now i do know about it, but i doubt ill be buying anything because it usually works out cheaper elsewhere.... i spend ages looking through the shop as well. its s shame I like ocuk, love the website and the forrums, youre all so jolly helpfull!!

The OCZ will be fine. I'm sure the XFX would too for normal use. You're not really gonna overload it by 100W, and at least it didn't burst into flames and/or take anything else out with it when it popped :)

Just make sure the OCZ psu u buy does not suffer from High pitched screams when you heavly load the GFX...OCZ could not fix after RMA, in the end they sent me another product, as they could not fix the issue.

Thanks, I'll watch out for that then. Just ordered cos they look like they're selling quickly at that promo price!

Dam just missed it... although its still in my basket at the offer price......... hhhmmm........

Might go with the XFX 750w then... dam but its a lot more. if it IS a better quality parts then i guess its worth the extra 33% or £20. cant see they do much else but ill take your word for it.

So would the OCZ have overvoltage protection? Because im thinking of having eventually an overclocked CPU 6 core 125w, oced mem, 2 x Overclocked gpus, as well as 2 hdds and loads of fans, does that call for 650w or 750w?

The 700W Modxstream on promo at the moment for £60 is a great buy. OCZ are solid units made by a decent OEM.

The OCZ is a average Sirtec/Sirfa build that goes out of spec (ripple) when it is fully loaded. No point in getting the OCZ when the XFX is £70.

Im thinking of getting the XFX 650w myself, loks fantastic but what about the inside - I hear that they are actually made by a psu maker called seasonic.

Ive just done some research and it seems seasonic make some pretty expensive and descent psus.... so why make them for xfx? are they just rebranding their cheaper ones i wonder? HHHmmm.... sounds fishy

Yup, the XFX is a rebranded/tweaked Seasonic M12D, and no, the M12D certainly isn't cheap, it's one of the best next to the Seasonic-X series, Corsair and other companies also rebrand Seasonic units, you know.

Go for Corsair or OCZ. Put an XFX PSU in and its your funeral.

Hahahahahaha. That's pretty funny considering the XFX is a Seasonic M12D build, which trumps over most Corsair units (a lot of Corsair's use the older Seasonic S12/S12II designs)

Well i dont know, I read a review link (was it in here) and when the psu was purposely overloaded, it blew up! literally!! Now im no expert, but shudnt all PSUs have overvolt/current protection?

seriously if it wasnt for me reading the review (which everything else they said was great) then id have one now. But dam, exploding?? dont sound like a professional PSU to me.... so perhaps this is where Rroff is coming from.

Would the 750w version have overvolt protection?
