Deer hunting

But you think its fine to terrorize a fox on horse back and get all excited over a fox being torn apart by a pack of hounds? That to me is twisted.

I personally prefer to use a single terrier or lurcher, but I also realise I can't bemoan a mounted pack and still hunt myself. I'm not a hypocrite. For example, by whining about harming one animal (fox) by harming others (people).

What I really hate is those big fat 400lb diabeetus riddled American "hunters" who spend thousands of dollars every year on hunting leases, permits, guns, scopes, ammo, all sorts of homo-erotic camouflage gear, quad bikes, deer stands, pheromones, even special soap.

Then they have the gall to claim they hunting to put food on the table!

Let's just be honest, they do it because it makes them feel like a tough guy to murder an animal. NO other reason.

I'll never forget the Christmas where I woke up to find the back garden covered in snow and a family of deer stood there .

Awww *takes aim*

According to the Daily Fail he was shot legally after the hunter paid the land owner for the shooting rights. No problem with deer hunting myself but the land owner seems like a bit of a money grabbing tool.

Exactly, i wouldnt have a problem if fox hunting was "look theres a fox, its vermin shoot it" but the way they do it is barbaric.

Or here's a thought, we could at least be civilised about hunting. When we execute humans (albeit not in this country) we don't let them loose in an enclosed area and then send the dogs out at them, do we? It's not really comparable to rifle hunting. You can still be a hunter even while you have a shred of compassion for other beings and try to kill them as humanely as possible with the technology we have. Even hunting with a bow and arrow is pretty much more humane than the "good old fashioned" fox hunting, which says a lot.

For the record, I'm a veggie, find meat disgusting; but I mean come on, you're gonna eat meat, at least kill it in as pleasant a way as possible. English people were/are pretty much barbarians in the area of hunting. Surely that's the true reason for the spread of halal meat, old british blokes wanting to taste the cruelty in their meat? :p

Hunting with hounds still goes on pretty much as it did before. Only where the kennels are near strongholds of anti's funnily enough near towns do they drag hunt.

The anti's have their ban so they are happy, the pro hunt people can carry on, and police have more important matters than to police eople breaking a pointless law.

Personally I am neither pro or anti hunting with dogs, but it is naive to think that it is less cruel to kill a fox with a gun than hounds. Obviously if someone is a skilled marksman with a rifle the fox/dear would be dead in an instant. But many farmers are not so skilled and will simply wound the fox, leaving it to die a slow death over many days.

I like to shoot, but unless it is a pest, squirrels/rooks etc, I pretty much eat what I kill.

What's your stance on people who randomly strew razor wire about the place with the intention of laughing at the resultant serious injuries? Just wondered as it seems to be only me in here who thinks that gleefully admitting a serious criminal offence (not to mention permanently damaging a human being) is disgusting.

The fact the post is even still there, to me, says either (1) OcUK are happy to be associated with such criminal acts or (2) there are no Dons around. Who knows.

I read that as well but just passed it off as normal internet forum talk :)

Maybe, but this is hardly the first time ^TANK^ has said such things. Maybe he is just trolling, but when you know people first hand who've suffered injuries at the hands of other "anti cruelty" people, one can't help but feel aggrieved.

Here, deer hunting is neccesary to control the deer population.
Dont know if its the same elsewhere?

Probably not because only the UK is pathetic enough to allow all it's natural wildlife to be destroyed and then not reintroduce them, so we don't have wolves, lynx and other native UK predators to keep populations under control.

I'm with you :). I fully support Fox hunting.

As for what ^TANK^ said.... .

Read that, then ask yourself a simple couple of questions.

Is it better for a large number of animals to starve, or a few to be shot?

Is the animal has to die as a result of the first question, is it more morally wrong for enjoyment to be gained from it, or for the kill to serve less purposes than it could otherwise?

HAHA! Next time I'm out stalking in my apparently queer camo gear with my trusty 12ga semi-auto gaygun of doom, and hopefully eating the results afterwards, I'll try and spare a thought for your homo-erotic rage.

Responsible hunting is FUN. You play with your toys and I'll play with mine.
