hi i have Q6600 and a 8800gt i think its about time i upgraded. i'm not after a new system yet so i am thinking of upgrading my graphics card. I was looking at the 460 but was wondering will it be a noticeable upgrade from my 8800 gt or will my Q6600 be a bottle neck. I play mostly Lotro atm but im thinking about some new mmorpg out early next year.

thanks for the quick replies. Is the 1024 much better than a 768 model ? I would like to keep the price down if i can.
Depends on the resolution you play games at.

If you play at 1920x1080 or higher then you really should get the 1GB version, if you play at 1680x1050 or lower then get the 768mb one. At lower resolutions you won't see that big of a difference between the two.

The 1GB version is a fair bit faster than the 768mb one though overall, but if you really are on a tight budget then a 768mb model should be fine - you'll see a massive difference over your 8800gt either way :)

When the respective prices were £120/£174, I agreed with Big.Wayne. Was all set to pull the trigger on a 768MB version. As easy says, at £150 for the 1GB it's a no brainer. 1GB all the way.

The Gigabyte £152 card from OcUK is really quiet too. Impressively quiet.

Like the OP im going from an 8800 to a 460. I suspect that Ill be going for the Gigabyte card. Good warranty, looks like the build quality is solid and it's £150. I was swithering over the EVGA superclocked cards, but the reports of the 1GB SC card being a noisy sod concerned me a bit.
