What it is, I have a new system with Win 7 64 bit preinstalled, and the BIOS is set to ACHI. What I want to do is to duel boot with Vista, but everytime I try to install Vista, it stops with a error message at the start of install. Is there a driver that I can slipstream, so I can install Vista. My specks are Dell Inspiron 570, with a AMD Athlon II X2 240 2.8GHz.

You should be able to download the AHCI drivers and use them during installation [it asks you to press F6 to load drivers].

I am puzzled though, since Vista should support AHCI natively. What is the precise error?

One way around it is to change the controller mode to Legacy/IDE, install Vista, do the enable AHCI registry trick [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976], restore the controller back to AHCI. Job done.

What it is, When i choose to do a custom install, I get a error dialog box saying,
"Windows install encountered an unexpected error, Verify that you have the Installation source are accessible, and restart the installation".

ERROR CODE: 0XE0000100
Ps, I was installing it on another drive.

I'm not convinced that error is down to a missing storage driver.

1) As Sirius says, Vista should deal with AHCI natively

2) If it was a missing storage driver then the installer just doesn't show any drives available to install to.
