I raced a BMW M6 and my EVO kept up!

I guess it comes down to how you define fast (see the other thread) but I wouldn't call them fast either.

Don't get me wrong I wouldn't mind owning one with something like a TechArt kit on it but they're really not that fast.

Well maybe they are if you drive a hot hatch or similar.

Taken against all the cars on the road it must be in top 5% at least, and probably 2%? I think so many people here either a) drive actual fast cars or b) think they know a lot about cars which means to them that anything less than a 4.5 second 0-60 is slow (even though they drive a 9 second car), that they tend to forget that a Cayman is faster than the vast majority of metal on the road in the real world.

(but my car is faster...:p )

I really don't understand this comment. I own what would be described as a "hot" hatch (265BHP is hot right?) that itself can push (or should that be pull, it is FWD afterall :p) to 60MPH in a little over 6 seconds, and hit a top end of over 150MPH.

I class the Cayman as fast because it IS fast, not because I compare it to my hot hatch (note the 2.7 isn't actually much quicker, if at all). Fast isn't only a straight line, nor is it 0-60 or whatever figure the manufacturer quotes as top-speed. I can drive my 330d faster point to point than my LCR and it's at least 50BHP down, and a touch of weight up. "Fast" as has been said, is something that can be used to describe a car that could outperform the majority of cars on the road, without too much trouble, and considering most of the cars on the road are utter dross, "fast" is a relatively sedate amount of whatever arbitary measurement you want to use.

The more you diss quick cars as being slow, the more the internet thinks you are super awesome because hey, even a Cayman is slow to that guy.

Ah i see :)

I out dragged a Scania R730 today, so there you have it, 420BHP > 730BHP....

Or perhaps his speed limiter was set to 54 not 55 like mine????

You assume he wanted to show a clean pair of heels to a 20 year old Jap boat?

He seemed rather committed. It wasn't a Fast and Furious style encounter by any means, but even then you don't get to those sorts of speeds by having your foot slip slightly on the throttle pedal :).
