Drinking recepticles, and is my mate retarded?

First question: We're down the pub, and my mate complains to the staff that his stella was served to him in a 'fosters' glass when he could see they had a load of Stella glasses free ...Fair enough complaint? Or retarded?

Secondary question. We went to a boxing match and he refused to drink any beer because to get past 'no glass in the arena' the bottles were actually made of very hard, non-pliable plastic rather than glass. So he doesn't want any for that only reason. Again, fair enough or retarded?

Final question: Round other mates house - having champaigne. He gets it in a wine glass. Guess what -- he's moaning about it and saying 'May as well drink £4 a bottle plonk' :/ -- Sophisticate? or Spanner?

I can accept the beer in plastic one, as personally i prefer to have my beer in a proper glass, but I wouldn't go as far as not drinking if it was in plastic for the reasons stated in your post, i.e boxing match etc

Other than that he sounds like a tool.

Cleanse him with fire.................its the only way to be sure

Are some glasses designed for the beer though? I thought some had a certain base that effects the head etc?

Good on him, it bugs me when I get beer in the "wrong" glass and have to drink from stupid plastic bottles but I never have the courage to complain about it. Drinking champagne from a wine glass is just totally wrong though, I'd hope everyone would agree with that.

Number 1 is a bit silly and the others are perhaps a bit of an over reaction.
However, different types of drinking recepticales do alter the tast of wine (and possibly beer?). For the Champagne one; the main grape for it is Pinot Noir, so you could argue that it doesn't have to be drunk in a Champagne flute.
