Drinking recepticles, and is my mate retarded?

what kind of arena was this? none of the big ones in the UK serve anything in glass, and I thought boxing was usually no drinks in the bowl.

It was the O2 arena. It certainly did allow drinks whilst watching the fight though for space reasons you had to go outside of 'the bowl' to actually buy them.

The 'warm up' super-feather weight fights were more entertaining than the main event .. 8 stone midget nutters with tattoos all over themselves and mighty impressive 8 packs, slapping each other for the full 12 rounds whilst never getting a KO or even a fall - as the 13 stone ref leers over them! Just needed the Benny Hill music! Whats not to like :)

The different markings on the botom do different things to the beer.

I got served a Fosters in a Stella glass once and it went flat within five minutes.

chances are the glass wasnt cleaned properly

or some of the glasses are coated chemically to aid in cleaning and this gradually wears off, so the glasses actually have a lifespan of effectiveness( they need to be rennovated to maintain this)..and once the coating has gone it will also affect your pint as the glass isnt cleaned as perfectly...the main reason for flat beer is the glass not the beer and its not the shape its the cleanliness

glasses should also be properly dry and properly rinsed

I know it's the class not the beer.

The problem was there was too many of the little markings on the bottom of the glass, it was just a fizz fest, and after 5 minutes it was flat.

I took it back and the barman even said it was in the wrong glass, he poured me another one in a fosters glass and it was fine.

None of it really makes any difference but if any of my mates served me decent champagne in a wine glass I would moan. I would still drink it but I would moan.

Stella - fairly idiotic. Some say it makes a difference to the beer, but I doubt it's perceptible.
Plastic glasses - I don't like plastic glasses, but if that's all that's available, then so be it.
Champagne in a wine glass - calm down, Keith Floyd.

lol it wouldnt have bothered floyd..he would have swigged it from the bottle, put it in a coffee mug or slurped it from a saucer!

In any of those situations (bar the plastic recepticle), I would have taken the drink off of him and drank it myself, followed by a "if you don't bloody like it, I'll have it".

He of course wouldn't be reimbursed. Tool.

Must say, I do like the larger Stella pint glasses with the elongated foot (not sure what you call them - they aren't normal pint glasses).

Just wants people to know he's drinking expensive Stella, little bit pretentious (don't get me wrong I like Stella but really don't care about what glass it's in)?

Glasses can make a huge difference to the taste of the beer, as they all channel the nose differently. Beer can and should be enjoyed much like a wine, and the nose, shape of the glass, warmth of the glass/beer are all variables that need to be taken into consideration. However, rather than a beer connoisseur he sounds a bit like a plonker.

Plastic pint glasses are awful. In my local brewpub they serve great beer but to sit in their beer garden they have to give it to you in a plastic cup. It totally ruins it. It's understandable in a venue that they won't serve glass though so I wouldn't have an issue with that.

If champagne flutes were available, then I'd serve champagne in that and I'd bring it up if I was served champagne in a non-flute if the guy had flutes. If they weren't (I suspect having flutes is rarer than not having them) then a wine glass will be absolutely fine.

My dad sometimes asks if he can have a tall pint glass rather than a mug one. But the difference between 2 brands of glasses is just petty.

I dont like having Stella in a fosters glass, vice versa, just takes away the feel of the pint but I wont complain about it.
