hi there, just installed my nice new corsair h70.....

just a couple of things....

how do you know the pump is actualy running?

is it ok to just run with 1 fan? as i cannot physicly fit the 2nd due to how its positioned in my case.....

temps have dropped a good 15 degrees c.....i was using a stock cooler and at idle temps were around 45 degress.....these are now sitting at around 30 degress

Touch the pump. It'll be vibrating if it's running.

Yes, but it means the H70 was probably not a clever purchase.

Yes, the H70 will be better than the stock cooler.

i was after the h50 but decided to go with the h70 as the rad is slightly bigger...reason the 2nd doesnt fit is the way i wanted the corsair logo...its a lian li case which is an upside down case ,(forgot the exact model) and with the logo the correct way round the pipes are too close to the rad....if i turned it , it would fit on no problem........

would i benefit from haveing the 2 fans running? as its easy to turn the pump slightly.......

it would benifit if they are good fans....it makes a big difference. from your specs i would probably say it will drop to 22-23c from 30c with the 2

ive turned the heat sink 90 degrees, and added the second fan.....looks even better now ......well happy......ill chaeck the temps in the morning as the missus has got the heating on at about 30 degrees.....and with this setup it will not cool below room temp correct?

temps are 33 degrees on all 4 cores....better than 45 on stock cooler....

what way are the fans facing now......are they throwing air upwards to the top of the case? the airflow is very important and you dont want the fans to be inafective or cancel each other out....idealy you want air coming in through the back, through the cpu cooler via push/pull and either out the front or top fans depending on case.... any chance of posting a pic of your inside case?

it was worth it to cut 15c of his temps?

Buying the H70 and using it with one fan makes zero sense to me relative to buying the H50 and using it with one fan. Indeed the case may change in the future, but that's looking a bit far ahead for me.

It's subsequently become clear that the H70 can fit in his case with two fans if he turns it round, so I also suggest doing so. This will roughly halve the water - air temperature difference, though obviously not the cpu - water temperature difference.

an upside down case eh.....whats the benefit of that?

are they sucking air from inside or outside the case?

whats the temps this morning mate?

hi there, yea the case is a lian li v2000 i think , i had it off me bruv free,i think he paid nearly £100 from overclockers with the aluminium flaps,it was 1 week old when he gave it me cause he didnt like it......im not a lover of the upside down case...but i cant complain really as it was a freebie......and i also dont see many benefits over a normal case.....the one thing that does annoy me is the side panel which exposes the components is on the right hand side of the case, looking from the front, which is against the side of my desk, where as a normal case its on the left......

the fans are pulling air in from the back, and ive got to check the front mounted case fan.....as i want this to push air out of the case at the front....

temps this morning on idle are at 25 degree c on all 4 cores, which is nearly 20 degrees cooler than the stock cooler was.......

forgive me for being stupid.... im not sure what the front is because its an upside down case! what i was trying to determine is whether the cool air from the room goes straight through the rad over the motherboard and out the front?

definatley worth the extra fan then? 25c :D

the fans and radiator are still mounted on the rear of the case like it would be on a normal case...only on mine its near the bottom of the case and on a normal case it would be towards the top....so its pulling in fresh air from the rear of the case , through the radiator and across the mainboard......

ive got to check the front case mounted fan to see if this is expelling the warm air out the front......

so it is doing what you think its doing.....in from the rear and out through the front....
