What unpopular opinions do you hold?

I agree with 1,3,4,5,7,10,11,12,14

I also really agree with the university education thing.

Funding for arts degrees and the like should be stopped/cut.
You don't need a degree to write a good book/speech, paint a pretty picture, or give your opinion on whether the Romans did anything for us.

What you do need a degree for though are the sciences and engineering, then once you get past undergraduate level, your teaching yourself anyway.

Funding should be given to scientific researchers, not social 'science' undergraduates.

A very good and extremely valid idea!

I can't believe you're serious about the smoking ban v0n. It is completely different to most other things done in a pub for the simple reason that you cannot choose not to breathe. Some people go to pubs and don't drink, just to sit around in a warm place with their mates, have a meal and watch the football. I think it's a great thing that parents can take their children in to a pub for lunch without having to worry about forcing them to breathe in cigarette smoke.

:edit: Judgeneo's post about university is fundamentally sound, however what about people who aren't necessarily great or interested in science or engineering? Just because people aren't interested in a certain subject doesn't mean they don't deserve the right to be able to demonstrate the depth of their ability to learn/produce work. That's another side to university education some people forget about. Obtaining a degree is sometimes nothing to do with gaining specific skills in a certain sector.

Best post I have read in years.

I also agree with others that you should be allowed to smack your own children. I got a thump round the back of the head when I misbehaved and I haven't turned into an unemployed emo who cuts myself and kidnaps babies.
My parents basically told me it is their house, their rules. On reflection, if I was in them I would have said the same thing.

I also firmly believe that the world doesn't owe me a living. If you are middle aged with a lowly paid job then that is your own fault for not showing willing and progressing. I don't understand why people don't want to be the best they can be.

I think you are allowed to hit your kids so long as you don't leave a mark.

Well yea:p

Smacking a child when they do wrong is different than coming home and giving them a beating because Spurs lost and you had too much Stella:p.

Dudes with cats are gay.

If a cat goes on the roof of my car again it is going to get a bucket of water chucked at it!

Car headlights should be mandatory 24/7 and sidelights shouldn't even exist.

Can't help going balistic when I see people with only side lights on when its almost dark "Oh its getting dark I need to be seen more, I know i'll put my side lights on as don't want to be seen too much though" aaargh

Basically agree with the Uni thing, I am 50% a medical researcher constantly stuggling for funding, and see these very nice wildlife documentaries where a whole team of people spend ages in some remote place with massively expensive equipment to get two photos of some rare cat, the cash would probably fund me for a decade.

I don't think Scrubs is funny. That apparently makes me unintelligent.

I also think you can't be schooled to be a good photographer/film-maker/artist. So I agree about the funding thing.

Fat people are disgusting, they have only themselves to blame, genetic or not, what goes in can only create size.

Papers and magazines should stop ruining peoples lives or face charges.

Womens minds are the cause of the vast majority of their lives problems.

People can will themselves ill.

What about other things caused by genetics? Are people to blame themselves for having hereditary conditions, disabilities or deformities?

Disabilities that stop them being able to exercise, fair enough.
Chemical imbalances caused by genetics are manageable though. Most fatties are fat because they eat and sit most of the time.

Then they get to ride around on scooters so they dont get that exercise either!

I cant stand big fatties on scooters!!!

Scrubs is utter garbage, if it comes on the TV I can only imagine 'special' people laughing at it :(

The first two series were good. Not great, but good. The third was ok. Everything after that was rubbish.

Here's one - the ending to Ashes to Ashes was utter tripe.
