Rich,

I need a massive favour please. The replacement mobo is showing the same fault as the last one so on the basis that I can't be that unlucky, it must be my cpu at fault.

I have a RMA number from James and will be posting it back to yourselves today. Could you (quickly) check the cpu and let me know whether it is faulty or okay via email please?

That way, if it checks out okay I can get another RMA for my mobo tomorrow and have a chance of getting a replacement by the weekend. Of course, if the cpu checks out faulty, then at least I know my 3 weeks of woe will be over soon and I will have a repalcement cpu by the weekend.

Many thanks. Let me know if this is doable and I'll send you my RMA number and mark the cpu for your attention.

very impatient :o

yep, as expected the cpu is dead
tested it in a ud3r and a rampage 3. both fail to post.

new cpu has been issued today, you should get it tomorrow.

happy days

Happy days indeed!

Just surprised the cpu is dead tbh. Never had one fail on me before, all because the mobo failed.

Thanks for taking time out to check it out so quickly.

Much appreciated.

Look forward to a working pc again tomorrow - so many games waiting to be played, and so many hwbot points to be won. :p

And the really sad thing is, there probably wasn;t anything wrong with my last mobo as it was showing the same sympton, but I didn't have a cpu to check. :(

I should have bit the bullet and sent you the cpu and mobo when the first mobo died. Oh well.

no worries,
seems that the board took it out. in fairness, intels are fairly bomb proof
its only when boards die and they take out the cpu that we see them go wrong.
as has happened in this instance.

hope its all up and running for you soon :)

And that is why 99% of my computer stuff is bought from ocuk :)

Free postage and back up service is unbeatable IMO.

Well that was scary. Put new cpu in and mobo started a constant reboot cycle! Cleared cmos and all was fine.:D

Cpu running nicely at 4.5Ghz.

Many thanks Rich.

Also I didn't expect the refund of my return postage so that was an extra bonus.

Customer service at its best

Glad someone gets a quick RMA, helps when you know the guys I guess

Returned a faulty GTX470 on 13th Oct and am still waiting....

Also yea, return postage, 2 phonecalls to OC to get the RMA (the first call just cut off after waiting x minutes in the queue) cost £5.12 plus £8 return postage means my 470 has now cost £13 more - and I still have no working machine :(

depends on manufacturer

intel do immediate swapout service on their products which means we can turn around rmas immediatley

graphics cards have to wait for manufacturer replacements and the like.
it depends entirely on the RMA terms with the supplier of the product really.

if you post your details to my trust, i will see if i can help

Last time i had to rma, mine was tested on the day they received it, must have been a slow day lol, so yeh really all depends on how busy they are.
