(Thermalright) IFX-14 vs Cogage Arrow vs Silver Arrow

Hi guys

As you may know that all 3 of these are thermalright cpu coolers. However all of them seem to have similar heatsink design. I know currently the silver arrow is the best air cpu cooler. However if you installed the silver arrow fans to the other two heatsinks, wouldn't they perform similar:confused:?

I would really appreciate the clarification:).

I have the IFX-14 so if someone wants to send me the other two I'll happily do the comparison. ;)
 
In the Vortez review, there's a section at the bottom looking at actual heatsink efficiency using the same fan combination on both the NH-D14 and the Silver Arrow. The Silver Arrow turned out to be better.

The advantage the Silver Arrow has, is obviously an improved design over the IFX-14 as Xbit show, and it comes bundled with two excellent fans! Also, the Silver Arrow is compatible with both AMD and Intel platforms.

The other one you might want to look at is the Cogage Arrow which is essentially the same thing as the Silver Arrow.
 
I love my IFX-14, bought it 2 1/2 years ago for £30 from here, used it to cool my E6600 and got it to 3.4Ghz. It was listed then as just a 775 cooler but came with an AM2+ mounting bracket. Was able to mount it to my AM3 motherboard with that perfectly, and its got my 1055T running at 3.7Ghz, and I could probably push it higher if needed later on. Only got a yate loon fan attached to it, too.
 
Thanks guys for the info. So Cogage Arrow only beats IFX-14 by 1-2C. If Cogage Arrow is similar to Silver Arrow then IFX-14 is still the best bang for buck cooler as it is the cheapest though it doesn't seem to come with any fans.
However if separate good fans are bought for IFX-14, then it's price reaches Silver Arrow. So essentially all three are same design with slight modifications for the later versions giving a slight increase in performance by 1-2C.

What were your load temps for both cpus in prime95 if you used it? Also is it possible to fit the Akasa AK-FN059 120mm Ultra Quiet Viper Cool Fan to IFX-14:

I'm using 2 Panaflo 120x120x32mm fans hooked up to a Sunbeam Rheobus fan controller. Idle is 42 and full load is 59. Ambient temperature in the room is quite high at 28 because my better half is permanently cold.

I have some Silverstone 180mm fans which I'm going to try and fit in the near future to see what they can do.

Does the IFX-14 come with the backside heatsink IFX-10 for intel mobos or is it only for amd ? If it does come for both platforms, where does it fit in the PC? Thanks again :)
 
Yes it comes with the IFX-10, it sits out to the right of the board if you have the RAM slots closest to you.

Sorry I forgot to ask you one more thing. Is it compulsary to install IFX-10 or not?
I have mobo Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3LR and my pc case is Cooler Master HAF 922. Looking at the interior of my PC, I don't think the IFX-10 will fit as there is 200mm case fan just above the mobo.

If that's the case, can I just install IFX-14 on it's own? Many thanks again :).
 
No, you don't have to fit the IFX-10. I had to bend mine slightly to get it to fit in my CM Stacker as the PSU cage got in the way.

Thanks MeddlE:). You have been great help mate. I think I will buy IFX-14 in near future with Akasa AK-FN059 120mm Ultra Quiet Viper Cool Fans and it should give me silver arrow performance. It may well even beat silver arrow with these Akasa viper fans.:)
 
As far as I'm aware the Cogage Arrow and the Silver Arrow are the same bar the fans and branding.

Yes I noticed that aswell. They both have same heatsink design. The only differences seem to be that the tip of pipes on silverarrow are all rounded plus it has different fans and that seems to be it:).

Not a clue what the temps were on my E6600, nothing above 60 IIRC.

Coretemp shows my 1055T idling at 23C (265x14 for 3710Mhz). Smal FFT prime test after five minutes has it at: 44C. It did used to be around 60C, though that was at the height of summer, and I don't really want to fiddle around with different overclocks throughout the year. Also, I'm not sure what the room temp actually is, its not all that warm as the room its in is directly over a garage, so gets pretty cold :p

I'm using the Antec DF-86 case, all fans on low speed, with a yate loon fan (no speed options on it), which is cable tied to the heatsink, since the fan had annoying mounting pillars in the way where the metal clip was supposed to go.

Also, it is a stonking huge heatsink, in my old Antec 900 case, it wasn't possible to mount a fan on the case door because the pointy bits at the end of the heatpipes poked in between the fan blades. I'm also not using the extra mini heatsink bit, because it didn't fit in the 900, and I completely forgot about it when I transfered into the DF85, and I can't be bothered removing and remounting everything.

Wow iviv those temps are damn impressive even without the extra IFX-10 heatsink. Lookig at the image IFX-14 does seem a monstrous rock solid cooler. But also love all the 'snakes' residing in your case if you know what I mean lol:p.

same weight, same size and same fin count = same cooler.

as well as the fan the mounting hardware is different too
The cogage hardware is the same as the TRUE, the Silver arrow and VenX are the new style fitting
