Which Sci-fi stuff will become true in your lifetime?

time travel is probably not possible and therefore won't happen in our time. If it was possible, we'd have people from the future here with us now.

I think driverless cars, new bionic medicines, a friend of mine is literally bionic woman now as she has just had pioneering spine surgery whereby electrodes detect pain in her spine and fire off the appropriate response to remove the pain before the brain realises. Well good! She has a battery inside her which she charges through a permeable charging unit!

Time travel into the past is never going to be possible, into the future however, why yes, that most definitely will happen :p

Food will become a hobby / past time, we will have little pills we take 3 times a day to keep us alive with enough vitamins and calories (even though calories are currently in the process of being discredited as we speak).

It will be made of people too.

We already have nuclear power. Unfortunately, the scientifically impaired won't stop freaking out about it.
Shame really as increased use of nuclear power would solve the projected energy crises we're predicted to be facing in the next few decades. I don't think solar/wind/tidal energy is available in constant enough supply for either of those three to become the energy source upon which we depend the most.

And let's face it, Chernobyl wasn't that bad really. :D

As someone else already stated, immortality. Downloading our minds into computers. Following that I bet cloning will come around not far after making us effectively immortal.

Sex robots

Not in my lifetime, but i'll bet you a huge chunk of money in about 100-150 years you see fully fledged synthetic partners who'd do all the housework/bedroom stuff and look pretty real for those of us who can't be arsed with a real women. It's just a matter of time really and it will be a real social problem (Those that have seen Chobits would understand)

and if we can download our minds into computers and we develop robots as sophisticated as the above has stated... well then the possiblitys...

liking the idea of our minds being offloaded/downloaded onto computers and archived after our body dies off. then producing a clone or whatever where the mind can then be loaded onto it from the computer. obviously it would have to be cost effective for the home user, as i dont see the government keeping millions of pieces of data about simpletons such as myself. :p

Now that they can decode a DNA strand in 3 weeks, I would have though in the next 15 years after medical testing times, there will be some custom medications.

I can see you getting the vitamins and minerals you need in a pill, but could you really compress a days allowance of fat, protein and carbohydrate into 3 pills?

Well carbs you could, as your daily allowance is zero

On a slightly more serious note, we are probably about to see keyboards that are formed out of laser beams in the nearer future. It wont revolutionize desktops but it will be very useful for tablet PCs and smart-phones.

Frickin' laser™ keyboards have been around for ages.
