Dear god

How quickly can a changeover of vehicles be done on a policy? I'm not getting shot of the Corsa til Friday, Can it be changed instantly?

I'm sure some stealers demand a covernote before letting go of it...but its not really mine though is it? It's under finance...

Yes instantly

You'll need to have them Fax you a covernote or wait for it to be posted out

Heres hoping I can get a faxed copy or if Bell can do that.

Will just have to sort it tomorrow now.

No credit card can offer a long enough period of 0% or guarantee to give a decent credit limit.

Plus isn't there a 2% fee or higher to purchase a car at a dealer?

Numerous cards will offer you 0% on purchases for 12 months. If thats not long enough (You'd clear it with just over 200 quid a month!) you can simply balance transfer it to another one in a years time and get another 0% for 12 months. So potentially only just over 100 quid a month. And if thats still too much then well you've got bigger problems and a new car probably wasnt a bright idea :p

Yes but thats nothing like the massive shafting you'll be getting on a ***** car credit deal for an amount like £2.5k!

agreed that finance is a horrid thing and the credit card idea is greatbut come on fox this guy is all axcited about his new car and now its turned into a doomy gloomy "getting shafted" by the finance company thread. :(

Dont you think its best we help him avoid being shafted by the dealer NOW rather than when its too late and he signs the paperwork when he collects his car?

Depends on the shafting, it's only a few grand, The shafting can't be that deep surely?

I reckon there are hundreds in it which for someone who says he couldn't afford to to clear it in 1 year is likely a lot of money.

Finance for 2.5k? Why not just save up, or am I the only one who saves before he 'treats' himself these days? Did you speak to your bank? Would likely be a significantly better rate than the dealer would offer...

I've bought several cars from dealers, and if at any point they told me I needed to prove I was insured to take my new car, I'd tell them to keep it and go elsewhere.

The reason why they ask for insurance is that if you drive off the forecourt without them having asked and on your way home you get stopped by the Police - the Police can also do the dealer for aiding/abetting/allowing someone to drive without adequate motor insurance cover.

If there is finance secured on the vehicle it isnt his car.

My VXR was nearly all financed, and there was a small amount of "in-house" (0% deal) finance on the ST.

I've never had to provide insurance details.
