Hi I'm looking for ideas on how to blow my insurance payout for my recently stolen mkv gti. Budget is between 10 & 12k. Thoughts so far...

Why would you want to decide between a 330d and a 350Z?

Either you want a 300bhp petrol V6 that does 20mpg OR you want a diesel. Doesnt that answer the question?

Fuel economy doesn't matter don't do huge mileage. I know the pro's and cons of the above cars i'm really wondering if there's other cars out there i should be considering

Why 330d over 330i?

I'm not pushed either way but have heard that diesel engine is pretty exceptional

It is - it's a fantastic diesel engine. But you dont need a diesel, so the equally exceptionally 330i is a better car.

If you give me £10k for the Boxster I'd do it tomorrow. Or you could buy it and give me a month or so to take the plate of the porsche and get it sold.

I see no mention of running costs and fuel isn't an issue so I'm going to suggest a CL500. It'll get to 60 as quick as any of the cars on your list, give or take a few tenths, and it is the height of sophisticated luxury. For example:

Even I was surprised to find that £10K is not bottom of the pile for a W215 shape CL. It would seem £8K buys you one these days:

Did the CL ever get the command sat nav? I know it came in around 2003 on the s class and really tidies up the centre console.

Surely a CL500 would cost at least double to run than the other cars on the list?

Plus it's an old Merc so it'll rust like London died out with the plague.
