Fwiw my battery has been vastly improved by synching only when I choose. Yesterday I got 17 hours use sent some text, update fb and Twitter. 10 mins or so each on paper toss/angry birds. Some gmail and general messing around with the phone.

At 11pm last night the battery was showing 19%, also had 3G/h and wifi on for some of that.

So you went SIM-free then? I'm still hoping T-Mobile will get it but it's looking unlikely, I may go via CPW. Let us know what you think of it! :)

EDIT: UNLESS I can do what an earlier poster suggested... get an 18-month contract with another Android phone from T-Mobile, buy the Desire-Z SIM-free, and sell that phone on ebay! :p

Will report back tmrw. Fully prepared for it to be average at best, but I plugged my old phone in each night anyway.

Only if your tv supports DLNA or WiFi AFAIK. Saying that my LG supports success etc over usb so maybe that would work also.

Have 44% battery after unplugging at 8am. Despite initial fears, the HD is as good as if not better than other smartphones if you're sensible with sync updates.

44% display
19% calls
14% cell standby
12% phone idle
6% Android system
3% calendar
2% Android OS
 
Has anybody compiled a list of must have apps here :)

I am more of a "useful" apps guy rather than a game or gimmick sort of app person.
 
Yeah I could do that if I didn't use it, but that's not a real test :p. Can't remember what I went to bed with so don't know how much it used overnight.

Just had music on for about an hour, ~15 texts and a 20 minute phone call, now down to 22%.
