Religion - I can understand someone believing in god/jesus, but why do they believe in the bible?

I think this guy has miserable **** printed all over his helment.

IMHO I agree with most of Von's posts...and yes, in this case, yet again, another religious bashing thread commences. Religion pops up every few days on here. Like a b0rked record

Edit:

Actually, PLEASE can we have an athiest religion bashing forum? Then all religious bashing threads will be stored in one place :)

Why not turn this mud into something constructive, who is bashing what? why? why not? for? against?

Discuss...........

Even jesus said he wasen't jesus, he was human, so is that jesus bashing jesus or just lack of self esteem?

Wait, so you're saying that everyone thought Jesus was God and then told everyone he was human?

Nope, it was passed down for generations and I believe it because my great great great great great great great great great ancestors wrote it

EDIT: ..........and I am inclined to agree with them more than I am to believe some X (insert figure here) "historians"

DOUBLE EDIT: Historian and religion, don't they share a common ground?

He didn't say it in the bible, you see no scripture was in close proximity when he said it, does that mean he never said it or you choose to disbelieve it just because someone didn't write about it?

So you basically have no evidence that he said such a thing, yeah? So why should I believe such a thing? The burden of proof would be on you to support your claim.

And no, this isn't the point at which you ask for proof of my beliefs - that isn't relevant here, though I'm quite sure you'll dispute that.

Got a point there......is only what one reads in a bible written by man the only truth?? Did Jesus not have a life away from the writings of a bible? If it's not written in the bible Jesus did not say it?

Copout.....Don't go questioning others proofs only to turn around to counter yourself before being asked the same..

What evidence do you have?? Ah you have the bible...which of course we all know is the truth & the only truth...Now that makes you narrow minded & blinkered.

For the sake of pushing this thread along a little I will answer your question, there is no burden of proof on anyone to prove any god exists quite simply because no- "thing" exists to prove or disprove that a being of godly stature ever did or will or is walking the earth and no person exists to prove this fact. What differentiates a fictional book from a book of realism? the masses?

At the end of the day the bottom line is this, we are all singing from the same hymn sheet and that is what exactly does exist? what you see or what you read or what you know???

Prove it.

You can't prove or disprove the existence of God as the hypothesis is not testable in the manner of provable scientific theory.

That is the only rational or reasonable conclusion to any of these threads.

Happy?
