Because I do not wish to deal through eBay, I'd much rather negotiate the terms outside of that, as eBay removes all chances of negotiation if there are any surprises. Plus if eBay fails, his desperation level will be higher, thus giving me more scope for negotiation.

Its a few hundred quid Mike, just go and buy the poxy car for ****s sake, if its that good get it got.

This is why you have the rows, if its not waiting for the crucial moment to swoop in with a low bid its the distance to fill the car up, nothing you ever do in life is simple is it.

It isn't even that, but I'm in no rush for a new car and will not be spending more than I need to :)

I feel the need to set firm limits with these things, as it could be an little bit extra here, a little bit extra there and before you know it you're looking at cars £2k more than you originally wanted to spend. An extreme example, but this is exactly the direction I was going before I started this thread (remember where I mentioned before that I was originally going to look at what I could get for £3.5k?)

Yea its called "the budget creep" iv suffered from it all my life.

But in this instance you want the car, it cant creep any more than the asking price, which you say these cars are worth, so **** it, have a day off tomorrow and go buy it, no?

Every time i see that car i have to think who thought red interior in a yellow car was a good idea :)

Just noticed:

So that's three owners it has had in just over half a year (Despite the seller claiming one?). Why have they all wanted shot of that car having barely owned it a couple of months?

Because it's more of a toy than a car you'd keep for 10 years and hand down the family?

Sure I get that but seriously, three people have owned that and decided to move it on after 2/3 months. Why? That's a very short period of time even to own a 'toy', especially three people in a row on the same car since it was first imported.

I could understand owning it for maybe 6 months and moving it on but 2 seems a bit short to me...

There's not a lot that goes wrong with them mechanically so I'm not sure what you're getting at. They probably just got annoyed with the rawness and lack of refinement, or decided their GF needed a new kitchen so the car had to go:p

Kenai raises a good point, and I'd normally run a mile based on misinformation like this.

I think if he accepts, I need to find someone closer to him to have a look at it first.

Well i'm just pointing out that that this car has been moved on a lot in a short period of time, some of these people members of an EK9 enthusiast forum so you'd assume they're ok with the rawness and so on.

Just a heads up for Mike in case there is in fact a reason for it beyond boredom/annoyance.

It's not a normal occurrence to have so many owners on a car in such a short timeframe, even for a toy, so I thought it was at least worth pointing out. Especially when you consider the current seller is selling it as one previous owner.

edit - it's been sold to a garage amongst that lot too as well apparently... I missed that snippet earlier

Or maybe the other "owners" were just talking ****** and trying to big up the car.

Indeed, given he'd clearly rater pay the eBay listing fee and chance his luck on there! Surely for the sake of a "tiny amount lower" it'd make more sense to get a guaranteed sale sorted.
