What?! I've made no claims,I haven't even rung them for anything. And obviously I now have one more years no claims. Yet my premium was £447 last year and the renewal price they've given me is £525!
What the hell is going on?! Surely it should have gone down.
Looks like i'm going to have to arse about ringing around and playing insurance companies off each other:mad:

Haven't you seen the other weekly threads regarding this subject? They rely on people being lazy and taking the first renewal quote - shop around.

Mine done that also.

Called them up went down by quite a fair bit. Just give them a call, they know a lot of people won't bother.

I am going to ring them. There's no way i'm renewing a price when it's gone up.
I just think it's ridiculous they've even given me and increased price:mad:

Have you never had an insurance renewal before? It will always be higher, as the lazy or busy will just let it renew rather than shop around.

I still don't understand why you're angry.

You won't go into a Starbucks and pay £10 for a sandwich, as next door Costa will do it for £6, or cheaper still, down the road cafe will do it for £3. Naturally you'd look around to see which is cheapest before you buy your sandwich, or most products for that matter.

Why did you think it's different for car insurance?

It's not the fact i've got to shop around. I just don't see how they can give me a quote that is more than I paid for last year. Seems like a silly policy if they want to keep their customers.

Is this your first ever renewal? Do you not 'get' how insurance companies work?

I love people that whinge at having to pay £500 for Insurance lol

Why? £500 is a fair whack of money, if you are paying more it is usually because your are:

a)Young
b)Live in ***** town
C)Drive a fast car

If none of the above apply £500 is steep, although it doesn't excuse the OPs minimal grasp of insurance renewal.

I've had 4 renewals, 3 of which have been more than what I paid the previous year. Only the last one has the renewal been cheaper, and that was only by £20.

Rule 1. Never renew!

Have you not heard of confused.com / moneysupermaket.com / etc.?

You should always at least use these even if the renewal is cheaper than before.

Bell did this a few months ago. Renewal quote was £500 more than the old one.

I did a quote as a new customer on their website, it was about £500 LESS than my old one and told them. Didn't even need to argue, she just honored it and renewed it at that price.

Lesson: Some people are so lazy/stupid they will renew at whatever price and it's easy money for the ICs.
