I'll mention something again.

Car slike these will not be anywhere near as good handling as they once were. It is a probable fact it is on the same bushes it rolled out of the factory on, same ball joints, track rod ends etc etc. To get it back to it's former glory these will all need replacing as 10+ yr old and 40,50,60k+ steering and suspension components will be incredibly worn even though they might not look it from the outside. I'll glady report back next weekend after mine is geo'd and flying again.

Adds up £1-1.5k to do everything properly with a few uprated parts and this is just parts cost.

Or just buy the car and run it as is, but don't harp on about handling this and that because you will need to experience how good it is when setup properly and isn't wearing 90yr old knickers!

Depreciation might not be an issue, but really getting the car us to a standard it is capable of and deserved will cost £££££

But.... but..... but..... it's got an LSD

It's ok he'll have a 20year old 205GTI next as these are the next big thing apparently

Why not look at 205's Mike? They can't depreciate any more than they already have, and mint ones are starting to fetch silly money, so if anything they're going up in value.

When car magazines argue over the best hot hatch of all time the 205 is almost always in the fight. The EK9 usually isn't.

Of course the same could be said for 172's..... Why were they out of the running again? The Phase 1's cannot realistically get any cheaper, and they're lighter and simpler than the more expensive, more likely to depreciate Phase 2's so there isn't as huge a performance hap as you'd expect.....

Negative.
i have to agree  was up town other night and some nice girl was eyeballing me sort of i went and said hi and asked if she wanted a drink soon as she opened her mouth i scarpered

but on a serious note if its a weekend toy why are you bothered about mpg as long as its fun and semi reliable who cares about mpg thats the joys of weekend cruises isnt it

How about a fiesta/escort rs turbo simple to maintain in most aspects with the cvh lump , good fun to nail or maybe even pick up something old skool, turbo'd and jap other then a honda , impreza's can be had fairly cheap or even a skyline gtst ?

Why not look at 205's Mike?

Probably not "raw" enough. Or it's "Just a 205". Or something stupid like that.

To a sane person one would make loads of sense. A 205 GTI with 16v lump under the bonnet and associated suspension mods is the definition of a B Road/track day weapon. £2k would buy a converted car with ease, will genuinely not depreciate and to be frank if one wasn't all over a mostly standard Civic a B-Road/Trackday I'd eat my hat.

He was saying something about the Corsa VXR being the absolute best car all round car for under £15k IIRC. Can't remember the specifics but it was the first time I noticed him, at least.

I remember this, because it was my thread stereotyping Corsa Drivers he bumped to start his "Corsa is bestest raaaa!" rant

Is that the best argument you have?

Yes, I find it quite comfortable as far as nippy cars go, like I say, I've yet to experience anything that can match it as an all round package.

Full typical MikeHiow Thread here

Start reading from about post 140 where he bumps a thread that died.

Showed early promise, this one did :D

Jesus, I go away for a weekend and this thread has reached 11 pages. Just wow mike.

Also, ive got a ten year old Honda if you want it for 5k - it's higher spec and a year newer than that civic. It's not going to hang around long at that price though - I'll even deliver it to you if you pay upfront

Could someone briefly summarise why the entire Motors forum has something against MikeHiow?

In summary, Mike appears to be unable to stop himself exaggerating certain things or extrapolating thrid party information he's come across. As we all know this is the number one sin smeone can commit on the Ocuk forums in general. As is customary here, the marjority people revel in running rings around people perceived as weak in this way and this is especially true in Motors. Persoanally, I would more more intestered in the detective work being used to explore allegations of conflict diamond smuggling or arson, but someone gettings some facts wrong about a car seem to be a more popular line of investogation as it happens.

Why dont you ring the police? Or better still pop round and discuss it over a glass of pop.

Now go away and get a clue idiot.
