After being away for a couple of months I decided to come back and get my druid to 80 ready for cata. However, I'm having real trouble installing the latest 5 gig patche. I've tried the official downloader and the patch sites but I keep getting an error. It installs to about 80% and then I get an error that it can't read a file as it's corrupt. Anyone else come across this before. If I can't get it to install I'll have to try a full re-install which is a pain. If this is the case, is there a fully patched client on the WoW site that I can grab?

Did you install via the CD, or did you just get the downloader from blizzard?
I did the latter and it installed fine.
I already had the game installed (from cd) and when I went to log in I had to upgrade to the latest patch. I tried both the downloader and the patch sites but keep getting the error. Probably got some corrupt data so I'll have to do a full re-install.

If it makes you feel any better, you can play the game at about 30 percent (pure guess, never really took notice) of it downloaded. Though if you happen to wander into a dungeon or something which hasn't been downloaded prior to entering the group will have to wait!

I had a fun weekend, me (DK) and a friend (disc priest) 2 manned the exo and darn bosses late saturday night 
which finally got my For the Horde achievement which was ace. I had the IF and SW kill for ages but could never find a decent raid to do exo and darn even though they are the easier ones.
So I thought I would give it a shot at soloing. Sadly overwhelmed by NPCs at exo so I got a friend to tag along and heal me plus a bit of extra dps. The fights took quite a while each boss had 6mill HP they were roughly 15mins fights each but man it was fun.
Also got into a new guild which is one of our top raiding guilds on my server which is nice. The guys are really cool and generally raiding is a lot more fun. So hoping I pass my trial peroid in there. The RLs have said I've been doing really well and can easily see me getting a perm raid spot which will be ace for running into cata. They are aiming for server firsts so fingers crossed

Just paid my subscription again, and looked at my 80 dwarf hunter........
Not gonna play it now tho until cata comes out and can see what the best build is for DPS.

the build up to cata has been epic on our realm (Neptulon), the alliance/horde population is roughly 2:1.
Our guild has officially cancelled 25mans so raiders have a break before cata and to fill that time weve been organising some epic pvp stuff.
First run we did was basically a stealth run into SW and ironforge. Nothin but rogues and ferals.
First guy is hilarious as he attacks the moonkin then sees all the guys unstealth around him to the classic "bur"
This last weekend past we organised an event called "NOT for the horde", basically the idea again was to build a raid for the sole purpose of walking in the doors of an alliance city and just going mental.
Its purely for lol's and bringing back the old days when a PVP server meant world pvp and not just the occasional gank.
Video for this is being uploaded atm but we had 6 horde guilds involved in the raid and about 80peeps in all. Was great fun

Dont ever trade accounts, its not worth it, nor is it allowed.
Try running the Repair.exe utility first and see if that makes a difference. If not, use the Streaming Client which you can download here. You'll probably have to re-download a whole lot unfortunately.
Also, if you're using Vista or Windows 7 don't forget to set the launcher.exe and wow.exe Compatibility Modes to 'Run as Administrator'.

Thats what i get sometimes when i try and have another go at dl the game from the dl client i got off blizzard. And if i dont get that message it begins to dl and gets stuck at 20% world.mpq and then just crashes.

You could just level in Cata as a holy paladin. That way you'll see the old world changes, and better yet will get instant queues for dungeons!
World PVP really seems to be kicking off on our server (which is a PVE server) There was a massive fight at Halaa yesterday, there was a few of us guildies to begin with picking off a few allys for marks. Then all off a sudden there was like 15 allys that just owned us so we got a few more guildies together about 20 of us and we just STORMED them in the middle of town.
Was so funny 20 of us all on ICC drakes just dive down in one go, shammy in the middle and thunderstorms the group apart and we just murdered them.
We were dead chuffed then so we start killing guards. All of a sudden theres like 40 allys that jump us lol. So we start getting more hordies just randoms. Go back for an attack all of a sudden theres just fights all over the place us trying to get the FPs for bombing attacks allys attacking us and destroying FPs. It was so much fun the fight lasted nearly 2 hours of just attacking and defending. We finally out numbered them and managed to cap Halaa.
After that allys retreated off. But man I never saw Halaa that busy even at lvl 70. So it was really good. Seems to be happing a lot though. Seeing trade with people saying allys at halaa.

Im a bit stuck on whether to be a priest or a paladin. Whats a good way to figure out which one to be? I was thinking try them both to a certain level like 10-15. Is that a good idea and if i do it that way is it best to be the same race so its fair.
