gaming pc need help please

wow!!! in a good way, the case is the sort of investment that will still be with you 10 years down the line.

ditto the PSU too.

so you think i should buy it all

a thort 2x460 in stead of a 1x470 but is it worth going the 6850ati route????

only you can decide if its worth it? thats a large chunk of money.

as for the GPU choice, 2 GTX460 are better than a single GTX470, im not so impressed by the 6850 its expensive with the cheapest being £154. And the cheapest GTX460 768mb being £119 or £144 for a 1GB model.

In my view switch the case to a Coolermaster HAF-X unless you planning to watercool the system then stick with the 800D.

I would go for a single GTX470 myself if gaming on a monitor below 30 inch that is but other than that looks fine.

a really like the look of the 800d and the cable mangment and cooling zone's look really well thought out,so don't really want to change case unless there is something else on the market i have not seen???( got to be as good a quality)

and i thought 2x460 would be better than 1x470??

i need good information as i want to order parts very soon, so come guy's and girl's get typing lol and BIG THANKS TO ALL YOUR POST'S:):D:cool::p;)

I would go for the 700D over the 800D too as it's more than fine for a large decent case and also you can get SLI GTX470s at the moment for £330 which is really really good for the cash.

add a SSD later?

Above spec looks very good, could change the H-50 to a Titan Fenrir Evo with MX-3 paste then add a Samsung F3 1TB which is on this week only.(also the Corsair 850w modular is too.)

I wouldn't get a ssd yet either, i got one myself and wouldn't classify it as a mandatory component unless the prices were dropped by a fair amount.

why would i derail wen hes been mostly told to go i7. thats quality advice.

i7 950 and an Asus Sabertooth board and your flying m8.

i have seen the sabertooth is it woth getting that borad in stead then??? it put me off a bit with only having 2 way sli and the other board i pick was 3 way..

for a gaming system i5 does everything you want.

a i5 760 is actually faster than a i7 930 at stock speeds due to a faster turboboost.

that £200 could go towards any future upgrades? even a big SSD.

i5 760 vs i7 920 - http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/191?vs=47 a i7 930 is a tiny bit faster than a 920.

does a i7 950 look £30 more? - http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/100?vs=47 again consider that a 930 is faster than a 920 cpu.

i see the i5 coming out "slightly" ontop bcause the i7 is dropping down to its level. what happens when the tables turn in a year or 2 and the i5 is gonna have to punch at i7 hyperthreading weight.

dress up an i5 system with a razor boomslang and a sidewinder keyboard if you want i dont care its up to you. Im just adding my logic incase its of any use.

Add: I forgot the 950s have went up in price so the 930 would be a better bet for entry level. the 950 a month ago wer a steal at £211/£214 so you just missed it. they might come down again who knows.

are you going to buy 3 GPUs? if you are then a 3 way SLI is wot u need, forget wot i said.

hi there
i want to building a pc for the latest game's and to watch blue ray's throw my tv and a bit of photo shop and i am confused as what parts to buy as there's that much choice please help me out boys and girl's as this is doing my head in lol:eek: i have about a 1,000 to spend and i want to spend it on the best parts i can. SO COME ON GET TYPING LOL

THANKS:D:D:D:D:D:D

i5 doesnt have Hyperthreading and th i7 does. HT is not currently used in games but i wouldnt bet against it being used in the next couple of years. HT "will" help in Apps like Photoshop.

"i want to spend it on the best parts i can"

i dont see you saying you want to "save" money and want a "does the job" rig, so i would suggest going i7 which will use your entire budget and it will be the best parts you can get.

Im on the same boat around the same budget and i want the best parts i can afford. I dont want to turn down AA in games so i can buy a cheaper 460 768mb card, or take a chance on a non hyperthreading cpu when it could come into play soon. When i first came on here i posted my first draft of a spec and it was an i7 build which is wot "I" wanted. Thinking back im actually glad i took the time to read into the AMD and i5 builds that wer suggested just to save £150, because if i had of jumped in a few days after i first posted and got an AMD or i5 rig with pimped mouse and keyboard, i would now be sitting here Furious.
