I'm afraid you've awoken the 205 GTI fanboy in me with this.

In which aspects exactly is a standard/nearly standard EK9 "much better" than the sort of 205 you could buy for circa 2k (16V engine conversion, sorted suspension, limited slip diff and quite possibly ITBs and Coilovers)?

If you're going to go down the route of saying with it being 10 years younger so it's going to be better ergonomically/is more comfortable I'm going to laugh. Mike wants a raw "toy", and I'm somewhat doubtful that the Civic has an interior and controls to rival a Bentley.

Dude what the hell, i hope your taking the ****.

I'm not actually.

On absoultely no planet in the knowN universe will a standard/Near standard EK9 out perform a "sorted" GTI on track or on a B Road.. Certainly not to the tune of a £3,000+ premium.

At the core of it, they offer a very similar package.

Good man!! You came back!

Now did you buy the car?

No, oddly the seller will not drop a few hundred even though he claims to be desperate to sell after putting a deposit on his new car.

Insurance?

You asked what it was like between the ST and Integra, and mentioned insurance savings. Which is simply irrelevant.

But in the interest of keeping you happy, the Integra is about £100 cheaper than the ST.

Hrm, I thought I had mentioned that the EK9 is around the same as the Integra to insure for me, perhaps not.

FWIW, an Integra is still just as much in the running as the EK9 if I can find a good one.

What was the asking price and what was your offer?

I had a drive in my mates 205 gti 1.9 on throttle bodies and mega squirt and it most definitely is 'raw' and awesome. Get one of those, it'll be cheaper and easier to get hold of.

Or, E30 325i.

Why didnt you just pay the few hundred quid if it was what you wanted.

Because my offer was already at the top end of what I can realistically spend on something like this (with a view to replace bushes/suspension etc. which as Ad rightly pointed out, it is bound to need).

How much does the suspension usually cost to sort out? If you add that to your budget can you not get a different car (with a slightly higher budget now)?

Whats to stop you buying something and sorting bushes in months time when you can afford it? I guess if your budget didn't stretch it didn't stretch.

I didn't realise you were in a position to criticise? You must be a seasoned autotester, right?

Not at all. But I don't backup bizarre internet arguments with claims of motorsport experience, though.

Oddly? I think you'll find it's no suprise to anyone else in this thread.

Have you sacked your mortgage advisor yet?
