Harrison Ford ID'd for alcohol

I saw a fit girl getting ID'd at tesco, so i said i knew her, because the guy knew me so he was like OK. She looked like 26 or so.

But along the lines with the OP, its the same thing as major celebs needing to show their passport when its obvious who they are.

In America, they're IDing everyone to make people sick of having to drag that heavy ID card all the way out of their wallet. This is to make bringing in RFID chips easier, after that whole "mark of the beast" problem they were having before. :p

They would if you were their mate.

I wouldn't, just because your friend thinks that someone is over 18 doesn't mean they are. Also, it wouldn't be your friend who got into trouble.

When I was last in the States, I only got asked for ID once (when I was in that Forest Gump restaurant on Times Square). The rest of the places, normal bars, cocktail bars, hotel bars, restaurants, comedy clubs, etc, never asked me.

Exactly, if they have any sense then they'd still refuse the sale without ID...but then this is platinum87 and anyone who is friends with him must be more than a bit dim. :p

This is jobsworthiness (made up word) at its highest.

Harrison Ford has told an interviewer that he was asked for ID to buy alcohol - at the age of 68.

Now come on, I've heard they're strict on underage sales of alcohol in the US, but really, 68? I know he's still fit enough to do Indiana Jones stunts but he looks a little over 21.

Reminds me of that McDonald's advert from years ago when the employee asked Alan Shearer for his signature to prove it's him!

I've never been to the states - is it really that bad out there for this sort of thing?

In the US they have zero tolerance for selling alcohol to minors. That is, if the pub has been open for 35 years, and sells one bud-light to a 20 year old that looks 32, it is immediately shut down forever. No warnings ever, immediate shut down entire business is closed.

For this reason a lot of bar staff get told just to ID everyone. It's actually the 'zero tolerance whatsoEVER' that is mental.

If you got told your £3m turnover business would be shut down in it's entirity the whole business destroyed completely if you ever for example serve a guy called 'Geoff' - wouldn't you ID everyone just to be absolutely 100% sure? Or would you really take people's word and put that £3m business on the line every single day?

Not that I'm sticking up for Platinum87 here. But yeah If I had to go to a shop where one of my mates work, and I was with another mate 90% of them would take my word for it they were of age.

So with that understanding, I must also be dim.:p

Im not friends with him, i just see him all the time, and he remembers me.

Also it was just the 3 of us as it was just near closing, if it was during busy time, i wouldnt have said anything, and he prob wouldnt have taken my word on it because of others like YOU standing about in the queue going like this :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I don't understand why you would say to the checkout guy saying you didn't even know the girl. It's not impossible that she could have been underage or a test by Trading Standards. Your lying could have got the checkout man into trouble which isn't on.

Errr, no it isn't. If a member of the staff or the owner gets cought selling alcohol to minors they get a citation, plus they have the inspectors on their back after that. Repeat offenders may get their license revoked for a short period of time or a reduction of their hours of operation when they can sell alcohol. I don't know where you get your information.

Is that evidence that people never do something they are not allowed to do?

As simple case of 'not allowed' is very much different from potentially breaking the law, incurring a large fine for yourself, your company and losing your job. ;)

If the glove fits... :p

Which is even more reason for him to ignore you and continue doing his job properly.

It's platinum87...no point really trying to understand him. :p

What state is that in?

Its not you though, its someone else, you impose what you would do on another person and then refuse to accept that it would even happen?

You make no sense. This isnt up for debate either, its pure fact. What is up for debate is why you decide to start an argument over something i posted which is just something random that was to do with "being ID'd"..
