AMD HD6970 guaranteed to beat GTX580, according to sources

Well the AMD crowd were bothered when I pointed out that the 580 is currently the fastest GPU on the planet.

Generation ahead in what way? number revisions aside they are exactly the same generation feature wise and technical progress wise as the current Fermi cards. The only aspect that they are generationally better than Fermi is in the ability to drive multiple additional displays.

If sites don't have them yet, it'd sugest to me that they're going to be delayed. AMD seems to be keeping any substantial leaks on lockdown lately though. Realistically though, if there's no delays, reviews should be getting done as we speak, or in a matter of days.

I'm not, but I can understand why some might take it that way.

I agree that people should learn to sit back and try to ignore the blatent attempts to cause a reaction.

On a seperate note, i hope the 6970 is faster than the 580 by 200% percent and it costs half as much(I can dream). What i really want is one big price war!

I don't think they were, how could they deny it, it's true? I think people were laughing at nVidia for banging on about the fastest GPU when they did the same about the 480, they've just been competing with themselves for the fastest GPU, all a bit silly really.

But I don't see anyone denying the 580 isn't the fastest GPU, you'd have to be crazy.
