Most Overrated Band

I'm completely the opposite. If they really are as good as you say it is impossible to pick up on in their music, so what is the point of being that good?

Their music is middle-of-the-road dad rock. Boring, if not bad.

My entries would be:

U2:
Maybe I'm not hearing the right songs, or maybe it's hearing them out of context or something but I really can't enjoy any of their music (with the exception of the track they did for the Batman film), to me they seem very middle of the road, bland and what I would describe as safe music - nothing about it stands out and could polarise an audience. To me it's almost music by numbers so it appeals to as many people as possible.

Muse:
A few nice riffs but for the most part, maybe it's my hearing having suffered from too many loud gigs, the guitars etc just seem to mesh together into a noise lacking in any melody or tune.

Despite there only being 1 electric guitar? Bass guitars don't usually play 'tunes' but Muse's bassist is one of the few who does (aka hysteria)

Tbh this thread was BS from the very moment it was created. Never going to get honest answers, people just using it to be deliberately controversial I think and show how seriously 'badass' they are (which they obviously are :p).

Some of the posts do seem to run along those lines but the majority of choices are actually agreed upon or have decent arguments as to why. Some of them are clearly for the windup or by someone who is a bit mental though.

If people truly honestly believe that such and such are overrated because they can't see any worth in their music then so be it.
That's what makes us all different.
My bass player doesn't get Led Zeppelin and refuses to songs by them, my rhythm guitarist doesn't get Slayer and Metallica and refuses to do songs by them but I'm not going to call them spazzy because of it.

So who would you choose to see if you've made a spazzy post?

People obviously believe the bands they are listing ARE overrated.

I said Muse. I genuinely cannot understand why anyone can a) listen to Muse and b) think they are good, therefore I believe they are overrated.
 
Actually the proper title should have been 'What popular bands do you dislike' because even though I have mentioned U2, Muse, REM, RHCP, Radiohead etc I can actually see why they are rated.
It was a bad thread title.
