X-BOX or PS3?

Both consoles have their good and bad points but I'd recommend the xbox over the ps3 every time. If nothing else, the PS3 is notoriously awkward to code for.
Most devs tend to just lower the resolution or drop graphical frills to get their games running at an acceptable speed on the ps3.
 
Whatever more of your friends have, so much more fun playing online Vs people you know, as opposed to randomers.

I would get what your friends are using if you intend to play MP. If not then have a look at the games on both consoles particularly the exclusives. Also have a go on the cnsoles in a shop or at a friend's place.

One major factor for me was the pad. I think that Xbox pad is great and very comfortable to use and I just have never got on with Playstation pad.

Also, are you looking for a Blu-Ray player, motion controlled games, etc?

If you do go Xbox then do get one with a hard drive.
 
Get one which the people you know play.

No point getting one or the other if you don't have family/friends to play with.
 
its quite hard to say which is best without knowing more about the games you enjoy,
i had a 360 for a while and got rid in favour of a ps3, the only games i miss are the PGR series but in trade i get gran turismo :cool:
 
Usually this would be amusing popcorn material, but I'm going to try and end the debate with a simple, logical and suitably non-bias resolution:

Purchase the one that most of your mates have, because no technological advantage/feature will be as fun as playing with your friends :)
 
Xbox 360, mainly because it has some ace games, mass effect series, gears of war, PGR and quite a few others, get the new 250gb, xbox live is pretty sweet too.
I have had a PS3 slim aswell and its good but didnt really do it for me.
 
So basically its the x-box then. Most of my friends have it so i think it would be the best choice. I have seen the 4gb version on a competitors site with fifa 11 for £149.99, would it be cheaper to do that then buy a hard drive for it?

Depends of what u want to do with the xbox if ur going to download music / movies etc from xbox live then u need to spend the extra $ to buy a bigger hdd, but if ur going to play only games then it's fine with 4gb. And yes u can buy later a bigger hdd for less...

Get the platform that most of your friends game on

in my experience xbox is better for multi format titles and online games, and the ps3 is ace for exclusives and blu rays.

You'll need both if you want exclusives covered, But the good news is you could buy both for the price of a Mid to high end Video card ;)

Here's what I prefer on the XBOX... The controller
Here's what I prefer on the PS3.... Just about everything else.
