Green Lantern

Suit looks like ****

transition of the suit looks pants

Kilowog looks good

Oa looks good aswell

All in all, preview doesn't put the film in the right light I was hoping for a Green Lantern being an avid comic book reader.

I'm not sure about the costume...Why wouldn't they just make him a suit?

I'll hold judgement til the trailer though....I really want this film to be great

also another part me and my brother dislike

Not sure why they have made it look symbiotic! its never been like this, the ring is not a life form and they don't co exist together, its a utility, a device of great power he wields.

im really hoping that is just an initial suit thing.

looks sucky will not be watching, sorry but since the batman reboot's by nolan every other superhero movie pails in comparison

It almost looks budget? And looks to be trying to be more Iron Man than Nolan's Batman. More family entertainment than world class production. Really hoping they don't ruin another decent comic book character

The script is by Geoff Johns, whose run on the Green Lantern comic is exceptional, so don't abandon hope totally!

Not yet anyway...

Nah, it's not by Geoff Johns. He just advised on it. The Smallville: Absolute Justice episode that he wrote wasn't very good. He doesn't have as good a grip on screenwriting as he does on his, frankly amazing, comic book writing.

I love Johns, I think he's one of the best writers around in DC right now, but it's clear he has a long way to come with screenwriting so I'm pretty glad he's only advising on the film and not actually writing it.

Speaking of writing, this film has FOUR writers on it which might be a bad thing (Greg Berlanti, Michael Green, Michael Goldenberg and Marc Guggenheim).

I love the Green Lantern, he's my favourite comic character but the CG in the trailer looks a bit dodgy. Hopefully they'll sort that out. The costume doesn't look as bad as I thought it might, and the overall feel might end up being more Iron Man than anything else.

If they mess this up I'm going to hunt Martin Campbell down and hurt him a great deal. I thought Ryan Reynolds was a good choice but he appears a bit iffy in that, admittedly very short, teaser.

Aye, I cringed when I seen that. CGI looks a bit dodgy too. Hopefully it'll look better come the release.

Looks a bit average.

Wouldn't mind a dark anti hero movie, kinda like a new watchman film or somit. I really would like to see spiderman film with venom as venom was cool in the cartoon version of spiderman and the film version wasn't too bad but I think he was poorly written and he didn't appear in much of the film, he kinda died too easily too imo.

My bad. I'm sure I was misled into thinking that somehow.

Dude, you could not be wronger. That was an awesome episode (except for killing Wesley Dodds off at the start).

Having seen the full trailer I'm more hopeful now. Seeing Sinestro in it intrigues me, and the CG looked better.

The writing in that smallville episode was pretty poor, it has to be said. It was like writing straight out of a comic book. Which is fine, y'know, but writing comics doesn't work very well when said aloud. Watchmen is the perfect example of that.

I think he just needs more practice with that sort of thing.

I thought it looked quite good the trailer, the thing with GL is you cant make a Dark Knight out of it, sure you can make it more gritty/real and gory but then Ch'p the squirrel flys past you in a green suit.....

It would be like trying to make The Flash a Dark Knight.... you can try but the core of the charactor and story can never be that evil, it can work for batman since hes the outlaw and the yet the hero but it would only work on him, very few dc charactors could pull it off.

As for the CGI/Suit of GL yeah it does look a bit odd it would have looked better not in cgi but I dunno will have to wait and see till next summer !

I enjoyed that episode, I think trying too put the JL into Smallville was gonna be a very hard task to pull off, but it was done in a way they sorta joined the old with the new, obviously due to copyrights and Ck still not flying and being Supes makes the task even harder.

I think it was the writer of the previous ep with the future legionaires, that ep was done well since it remained more seperate from everything else, but with JL being so important just too hard to put it altogether.

Im still hoping for a JL spin off show after smallville, its just a shame they cant do a batman smallville show.

I have recently got really into the American side of comic books and graphic novels. I have bought all of the available graphic novels that group most of the Green Lantern's new volume together (Wanted Hal Jordan, Rage of the Red Lanterns, Secret origins etc) and i am just waiting on the Agent Orange one to become available on Amazon.

I have started a subscription on Economic Comics for the continuing Green Lantern series (#61 onwards), and the new Flash series. But I am looking at maybe subscribing to 1 more series to group the postage.

Would anyone be able to suggest a series similar to those two or one that you are enjoying please?
