£250 upgrade budget.

So say i bought the card + quad, would it fit in my current build my current mobo?

I don't know what your current mobo is :p

And what card would you suggest?

That's a toughie.

Its a breakdown between a GTX460 1GB or a HD6850 1GB.

Stulid has recently informed me they are of similar prices, although the better versions of GTX460's will cost you slightly more.

I'd read that through - but keep in mind that the GTX460 used is overclocked and £15 more expensive that the card its being used against.

So if i got one of them cards which thanks to your help and stulids I'm going to purchase

What else should i purchase with it? Also will it fit in my current build

thanks

I don't know what your current motherboard is, but yes the gfx card will fit in there.

Ok deffo got a £325 budget, any suggestions?

If you tell us what motherboard you have it will make things easier.
Although, I would say this is a good bet:
Radeon HD6850 1024mb ~ £141.99
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-020-HS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1866

Brilliant card, performs as well as the GTX460 and is cheaper :D

Q8300 ~ £112.79:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-269-IN&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=567

Will overclock to around 3.0Ghz and give you a good boost in performance.

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro ~ £18.99
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-035-AR&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395

Will let you attain aforementioned overclock, and do so quietly.

Total: £273.77

If your motherboard can't take it, then the extra £50 can be used to get a new motherboard.

I would get something along the lines of this:
Your basketProduct Name Qty Price Line Total
Asus GeForce GTX 460 Direct CU TOP 768MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with HAWX2 PC-Game £114.99
(£97.86) £114.99

AMD Athlon II X4 Quad Core 640 3.00GHz (Socket AM3)
(£64.99) £76.36

Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9)
(£51.99) £61.09

Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H AMD 880G (Socket AM3) microATX DDR3 Motherboard
(£49.57) £58.24

Sub Total : £264.41
Shipping cost assumes delivery to UK Mainland with:

Thanks Cookeh, you've been so much help mate.

Looks like I'm ordering that on Tuesday. So im guessing It will replace a lot of my things in my case, which I could easily sell. Now I've got to pay someone to install the parts.

Nonononooooo. Build it yourself - its rewarding and great fun!
If you get stuck there are several guides on this forum and plenty of people to talk to!

But yeah, you could sell your old stuff for a reasonable amount.

How long would building it myself take? Last time i tried, bought a card didnt fit in my case and cut the case open, and damaged the whole pc lmao.

specialist tools? maybe a anti-static wrist thingy majig
maybe a screwdriver if case is not the tool-less design

yeah but i think the anti-static band gives the builder some mental/psychological boost knowing that they wont kill it with static :D
