Hey this is my first time posting so please feel free to redirect this post if neccessary.

Im thinking of doing my first home build and i want to make sure the hardware I have chosen is good for my budget. My budet is around £500 ex. OS.

The components are:

PSU: Corsair TX650W 650W power supply £60

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965BE @3.4Ghz £120

GPU: Sapphire/XFX (which is better) ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB £100

RAM: 4GB (2x2GB) A-DATA DDR3 1333Mhz Budget RAM £40

Motherboard: ASUS M4A77TD-Pro AMD 770 £60

Cooler: CoolerMaster Hyper TX3 £12

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Green 640GB 64mb buffer £35

DVD: LG GH22LS50 Budget DVD drive £17

Case: CoolerMaster elite 330 £30

Total: £474

Is this ok? Is there a better AMD motherboard available for the price? I hope to use this computer for internet, work and gaming. I do not plan to overclock.

Thanks :)

just buy this lot.

better graphics card.

motherboard has SATA and USB3.0

much better case.

The 460 GTX doesnt support DX11, which is something i would like the build to have.. what is the best dx11 graphics card i could get to suit that budget? Also i would like to have a 600W+ power supply so that upgrades in the future can be done.. im not sure that a 500W psu would be able to power a graphics card that requires two 6 pin cables. The kind of cards that end up eating over 200W of power

GTX460 does support DX11  Its nVidia's latest mid-range card.
500W is approx 150-200W more than you'll need.

Just get Stulids build.

Really? huh i read somewhere its not .. ah well. the GTX460 sounds good then. Yeah i think i will just go with Stulids build. Thanks again

oh one more thing, does nVidia work with AMD in the same way ATI does? I heard somewhere AMD and ATI are a good match

thats odd. in my head i always imagined AMD and ATI as a couple and Intel and Nvidia the same. Maybe i just see them advertised together or something i dont know. Btw, the Asus GeForce GTX 460 is a 768MB card.. Does the Mb make any difference? for example the difference between a 512mb card to a 768mb card to a 1GB and so on

Think you have been reading the wrong websites or been told rubbish from people you know.

The motherboard has no bearing on the memory of a graphics card.

and, the special offer on that 965be cpu has eneded, so now the 970 is the same price - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-275-AM&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=1328

AMD and ATi are now the same company, so there's a little truth behind it, but there's zero incompatibility issues.

With the GTX 460, it's worth bearing in mind that the 768MB card doesn't just have less VRAM than the 1GB, but it's also a less powerful card in itself- less GPU power. When there used to be a £50 difference between them, the 768MB was the best value, but with the ~£20 difference now you may as well go for the 1GB.
