He is actually insane, I can't believe some of the stuff that guy can do now, the 180's up huge objects and that front flip drop off at the start, never thought I'd see crap like that being pulled :D

its still mightily impressive but hes just doing what bmxers could do ten years ago but with some added trials

the constant praise the backflip off a tree got in his first video grinded my gears the most because i must have seen it done in every late 90s/early00s bmx video

Bike arrived today :D Only took Evans 3 days form placing order to delivering (Fri - Tues) so well chuffed although I wont be able to get on it till the weekend :(

Was worried that the bike might be too large (23" frame) but seems ok.

Can someone double check something for me. Stupid question but in all the pics of bikes I see, the quick release for the front wheel is on the left side of the bike (as you sit on it) but this one has it on the right (the rear wheel is on the left).... Just want to make sure I didnt put the front wheel on backwards when I rebuilt it (had to take wheel off to fit in the car)... The writing on the wheel reads correctly when its at the top (same as the rear) but there is no direction marker on the tyre

My first bike in a long time so here's hoping I dont fall off the bugger when I try to ride it... Expect a "I fell on my arse" post soon :o

It makes no difference what side the QR lever is on. The tyre direction might be backwards if the wheel has been put on backwards but you likely won't notice the difference. :)

Cheers... Was only really worried that the tyre was on backwards and was using theQR lever as a point of ref.

Ta :)

Directional tyres usually have an arrow which tells you which way the tyre should rotate when put on. You can also usually tell by the tread of the tyre. As weescott pointed out, you probably wouldn't be able to tell when on anyway.

Guys I'm after some tyres recommendations for my Boardman HT Pro.

Currently running the standard Conti Speed King 2.1 on Ritchey WCS rims.

These are perfectly fine running on dry dusty trails, but as soon as it gets a little wet or muddy then the tyres provide no confidence whatsoever. I don't do hardcore riding to be honest, just some xc on canal path type tracks, with some light forest riding chucked in. Want something that won't be too heavy but will give me a good bit of confidence and grip when going for it.

Thanks

Panaracer Fire XC pro, just installed them last week, A little slower on Tarmac compared to my old Specialized Fast trak and Schwable Marathon Plus tyres but they do offer lots of grip which is what i'm after in these winter months.

Probably non-directional tyres I have then (the standard Fasttrack ones that come with it) :)

BTW, Can anyone tell me what the frame screws are on the upper strut that goes from seatpost to rear hub... I know the ones on the inside of the frame are for bottle cages/pumps etc but no idea what the others are for.... You can see the ones I mean in my first pic above just in front of the rear brake and up a bit.

Grrrrr mad as a box of frogs this morning!!!

Almost got wiped out on my way to work by some retard in a barried-up Pug 106, barrelled past at 50+ MPH while the opposite lane was chock full of bus, leaving me inches to spare if that.

Caught up with the ****** by the roadworks and gave him a piece of my mind though, can't possibly think why he didnt want to wind his window down. He was sandwiched in slow traffic so had nowhere to go.

I have no idea why I dont just break people's cars and cycle off when this kind of **** happens.

Rant over.

I got rid of the speed kings on my pro as soon as it started raininy . There is no warning before they let go completley. Im running mountain kings on mine now which are really good. I would also recomend the panaracer trail tyres i've used them for years.

Specialized S Works Purgatory tyres - just put some on my bike and was out yesterday on it - similar surfaces to what you described and they worked very well.

What do you guys think of these wheelsets??

I am slowly (and cheaply) upgrading an old claud bulter bike and would like to upgrade the wheels.

I already upgraded the brakes, seatpost, seat, bars, shifters, pedals, tyres etc.

Also any recommendations for a frame around the £100-£150 mark. The old claud butler one is a monster in weight!!

General XC riding - nothing of major abuse!!

What are you upgrading from and will those wheels be any lighter?
I would personally spend as much as you can on wheels, even if it means sacrificing other kit.

Something like these are about 1lb lighter than the wheels you linked to and only cost around £70 more : http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=42568
£70 for a 400 gram saving on wheels is a no brainier !!

This frame is fairly popular : Ragley mmmBop
