I think someone put a site on here, way back about checking crime rates in areas. Well thing is, me and the missus have finnaly splitup after 18 years, and im looking for a flat/house but not in bad areas of Newcastle like Elswick/Benwell. Sorry if you live there by the way. :)

So Im interested in propertys to rent in Newcastle upon tyne, close to city centre as pos. I work in city centre and thats where my flat is now. I also have a treassured guitar collection and i dont want them getting stolen.. lol. So any sites to check crime rates and stuff? Thanks. :)

Wow! Turns out where I live now has at least half the number of reported crimes as any other area of London I have lived in!

This Home Office guide may be useful:

damn, i can't remember the site but there is a page that has a crime map with streets named, but it only uses figures for the last month - anyone remember it? its very useful for buying a house etc..

A good idea is to pop round to the local police office in the area you are looking to move to. Have a chat with them, they will be able to advise you of any problem areas.
