What are you upgrading from and will those wheels be any lighter?
I would personally spend as much as you can on wheels, even if it means sacrificing other kit.
Something like these are about 1lb lighter than the wheels you linked to and only cost around £70 more : http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=42568
£70 for a 400 gram saving on wheels is a no brainier !!
This frame is fairly popular : Ragley mmmBop
Good advice, this time of year most of the 2010 models have their prices slashed. The Zen 2 above I picked up for £700, was £1000, though I'm certain I seen it for £600 in a shop in England. As it is my first 'real' MTB I wanted to test drive it and get the correct size, hence I bought it from a store in N Ireland. Providing your not going to be reselling it anytime soon, then it's definitely worth giving this years bikes a look.in fact thinking about it - rather than invest £250/£300 on a new frame and wheels I would probably be better buying a new bike??
I could probably get £100/£150 for bits and piece on my bike and then spend the £300 or so i was going to spend on wheels/frame towards a new bike. By the time i messed about trying to change everything from my old bike to a new frame no doubt I would end up spending more on various bits and pieces!!
There is some excellent bikes about for around £600 or so at the moment from a quick look round.

with 20% off and another code i found takes this down to £610!
Also the boardman range seem to get an excellent write up as well.
What do you guys think of these wheelsets??

I am slowly (and cheaply) upgrading an old claud bulter bike and would like to upgrade the wheels.
I already upgraded the brakes, seatpost, seat, bars, shifters, pedals, tyres etc.
Also any recommendations for a frame around the £100-£150 mark. The old claud butler one is a monster in weight!!
General XC riding - nothing of major abuse!!
Problem with the Oneal one is that while good, I only want a backplate which will fit under a jersey and not get me hot (Especially in summer). Can you link the squishy one? Can't seem to find much on google
Edit: Is this it?
^ That could well be a replacement for the Heckler. A cheaper and nicer looking Butcher. Available Febraury next year!![]()

The trails up at Davy Marshalls Lodge are good, not too taxing at all. The scenery up there is stunning too although it depends on the weather what sort of access you will get because the roads wind uphill a fair bit to get there. Good place up there, good facilities, coffee shop, parking, toilets etc.
Also, if it is the log cabins I'm thinking it is, you are right next to the Callander to Killin C7 cycle path :-

The Trossachs are stunning at that time of year. Have fun and make sure you get some pics and post back.![]()
Cabins have double booked so they've moved me to Keldy in North Yorkshire nowSuppose it's easier as it's closer to Manchester but was looking forward to Scotland as I've never been before
So, anyone got any recommendations for trials around Keldy / Pickering.
Thanks
