** Official WoW Catalysm Alpha/Beta Thread **

Decided to stop being lazy and upgraded my acc to Cataclysm..and was greeted with the following email:

Being a European account, surprised it mentioned 12:01am pacific time in the email. Wonder what thats about?

Just checked my email and got the same thing. Hopefully just a copy-paste error - the previous expansions have always gone live at 11pm UK time.

anyone stocking up on any WOTLK items for flogging of at a higher price once cata hits? i would imagine with people playing WOTLK areas less the consumables will cost more.

I can't see it personally, mobs usually drop their fair share of potions and scrolls.

People will have an excess of old mats and food they want to get rid of while its still a tiny bit useful.

Im stocking up on enchanting materials and cloth for making bags. (Main is Tailor + Enchanter)

I figure lots of people will be rolling new chars (worgen and goblins especially), and these new chars will want bags and mats to level professions including first aid.

reading on MMO Champ that the shattering should hit live servers next week.

Does anyone know if the 4.0.3a patch will add the new race combinations, not worgen and goblin but like troll druid, blood elf warrior etc?

Damn thats sooner that I thought!

Looks like Ill have to abandon the loremaster achievement for now...:p

Ive only got Strath and Scholo to do for Classic dungeonmaster though, so Ill get that this weekend.

Have been doing lots of old world quests on my main that I missed 1st time round, as a last bit of adventure before everything changes for good.

I've got a guild bank full of green gems and colbalt ore ready to sell for cata. It might be risky but I think I will make larger profit compared to selling them now.

As mentioned you are going to get a lot of re-rollers be that gobbo (in my case) worgen or just people wanting a new start.

Therefore I can see people wanting to buy green gems to quickly level JC. Same with ore for either prospecting or people buying it for BS/Mining whatever. Either way I havn't got that much to lose tbh.

ive gone the full out route for hoarding mats before cata

So far ive stockiled about 5k in leather, the same in cloth of diff types.

Have been unlucky with gem transmutes with very few procs so only have a handful of gems ready.

Mining wise theres just so much saronite and cobalt about it would be rude not to hoard up loads of it.

The lower level ores do sell well atm but im planning on selling those before cata as with flying in old worlds theres gonna be a huge saturation of the market for low level ores, thats my prediction anyway.

Expectations for best selling mats will be enchanting mats, all types of cloth, and leatherworking mats.

Last night we had some great fun doing raids to try complete before removal.

I finally FINALLY got my Conqueror of Ulduar achievement. The guild was so happy to finally get the achievement. We had been trying it the last couple of weeks but so many people kept failing at Yogg. It was so smooth. I'm now rolling around with that title on as well I love it personally. Ulduar was my personal favourite raid of WoTLK so I was so happy to get it. Already had Champion of Ulduar but Conqueror is much nicer :p

Kargthra, Conqueror of Ulduar. Has a nice ring to it :p

The guild also managed to get Herald of the Titan which was nice. Sadly I didnt have the kit to do it.

Also I managed to get my Its over Nine Thousand achievement (get over 9k achivement points) :p hehe yea might seem sad to some people but meh I really enjoyed grinding them achievement points.

All in all I am very happy and well set for Cata now. I'm really feeling the hype as we move closer and really cannot wait to get stuck into it.

I know people who just about have the achievement cap (bar a couple), nutters.

I rolled my first Paladin the other day, already up to lvl17. I've decided to lvl as Protection, since I get instant dungeons in the random dungeon finder. I did a similar strategy with my druid by speccing healer and went from 55 to 80 in a couple of weeks of dungeons and the odd quest. :)

I'm really liking Paladin so far, I wish I'd done one sooner. I'm going to try and get him a few heirloom pieces before Cata hits, then I'll mostly abandon my main toons and use him to explore the new world. I was doing a couple of RFC runs last night and the healer (druid) gave up healing me and started doing DPS, saying "this tank is hardly losing any health". :D

Up til about 50 ish I didn't use a healer on my paladin for instance, just told the healer to go dps.

Mines 61 now, been joining queues as tank/healer.

When you get to come to Outlands, tanks are everywhere tbh, healing is instant queues again. DKs are everywhere tanking.

have they changed the way addons work with patch 4? seems no matter what I do my addons aren't recognised and the "addons" button on the character select screen has gone.

Nope, nothing changed much. Unless you only had a couple of addons and they got totally screwed :p

has anyone leveled any proffesions in the beta? at what level can u start making cata stuff? ive got my blacksmith and tailor to 445, its going to be expensive to get the last 5 levels so hoping i can get them easy with the starter cata stuff.

anyone having an input lag problems?

my ping is low and my fps is solid 60, yet in bg i get a nasty 1 to 2 second keyboard lag.

didnt do this before the patch.

Cataclysm profession learning starts at 425. With Tailoring you'll be able to make the new Embersilk Bolts which you'll need loads of at 425 and Blacksmith you'll do the same with Folded Obsidium, so I'd just stop where you are.

Tried fiddling with the new Lag Tolerance slider? Might help a bit.
