Hi forum,

Any Idea if I can get this disc sorted,

My son was playing the xbox when the daughter tripped over the ethernet cable and the xbox fell over, the xbox is fine as it had a soft landing but his new game got scratched in the process,

the game does start up but after a while it freezes,

Any ideas

If you take it to a well known station ;) they can probably sort it for you as they have a cleaning machine that cleans up discs, I think it cost about £4, I took a few badly scratched discs before and they sorted it out for me, only takes about 20 seconds

Cheers for that and have gave it a clean multilayer still freezes at the same bit but single player still works will try the station tomorrow,

If you have room on the hard drive try installing the game. That way even if it's scratched as long as the disc can be read when you start the game you can play it without problems.

the shop with the purple logo will do it for £2.99 in about 20 mins as they recently sorted out my FIFA 11 disc after I scratched it during a hissy fit!

I've fixed a couple recently and that's after a popular game shop tried and failed with their super duper machine. Ideally you want to hit it with some 3000 grit wet n dry to cut down beyond the scratch then polish it up with some turtle wax. Not messing with you my mate did the exact same thing with a need for speed and it put a healthy score in the disk but I got it working using the above technique. Don't get me wrong it isn't going to look nice n shiny n perfect again but it works...

Before you take it to any shop try this; get a wee bit of Brasso on a soft cloth and gently polish the disk for a bit. Should sort it out as i've done this to music CD's and games and all work fine, with the Brasso you;re taking off a very small layer of the plastic that is scratched, basically buffing it/t-cut.

Toothpaste is reported to work, I've never tried it myself but then I've also never tried applying mustard to my face for extra beard growth which is also reported to work well.

I have taken games to the high street station though and got them fixed for a small fee.

Can u install xbox game to xbox harddrive

Yup, takes 8gb of space per disc. You still need the disc to boot the game, but after that it's all off the hard drive. I do it on all my games now so my xbox is nice and quiet.
My brother did it with Fallout 3 too, his disc kept crashing the game. So i installed mine and he used his disc to boot and he had no problems.

This.

I've also used the brasso wadding (the stuff in the tin) with good results.

Oh and as others have said try the install. I had a really scratched disk that wouldn't read from the drive but the install was fine. :)
