Piracy funds terrorism?!?! Classic assertion that never really got explained to me (didnt know the IRA made cash in the 80's and 90's pirating games and videos...)

True guys but it defo highlights the massive issue. also metalface mark, is £35 really that much? I was paying 50+ for snes games in the 90's, that was expensive!
More importantly, how does it fund terrorism if the people pirating don't pay anything?
Agreed, I only use an external optical drive now so I now no longer buy games which need a disc in the drive to play. People with a netbook also have no optical drive.Yeah, I use No-Cd cracks all the time for games I've bought legally at full price (I love having physical games in my library). Can't be asked to keep having a pile of discs next to my PC. They should just remove the requirement from having the CD in to play anyway - pirates will get around it easily and it will just annoy paying customers.
I generally like to try games before I buy them and most of the time there is no demo available, usually because the game is crap and they'll miss out on sales if people realise this before release!
This is why there are not as many demos, it would cost most games in terms of sales.

ubersonic said:Seriously WTF lol, and some people think this is ok. I grew up as a PC gamer, im used to paying £10-15 for a game, not 50 for a snes game or 70 for an N64 game. I remember when Quake 3 first came out and it was £24.99 that was massive at the time.
yeah, £24.99. ELEVEN YEARS AGO. games are better value today they they've ever been, console or pc. its just a shame that a certain publisher in particular takes the micky
Indeed, that's getting close to £35 with inflation. Considering you can get NEW releases for £30ish often, games today are great value.
