I did a search and could not find anything on this on the forums so I hope its not a re-post of anything.

I came across this game while looking for new XBLA titles that are coming out soon as I have some spare points burning a hole in my pocket.

It looks like its shaping up to be an interesting little title, with a great looking art style which i think really suits the game type.

Game Summary (taken from wiki):

Costume Quest is an upcoming adventure role-playing video game developed by Double Fine and published by THQ. In the game, the player controls a child that is trick-or-treating with his or her younger sibling on Halloween night when they encounter a monster that kidnaps the sibling, thinking the candy-corn outfit is really candy. The player must travel around the local neighborhood collecting items for their costume, fellows children as companions and candy in order to face the monster and retrieve the sibling. The costume aspects are used in battle segments, where the player character and companions are transformed into the monsters and creatures they are dressed as to fight other monsters. The game is a down loadable title and will be released on October 20, 2010 on the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network services for $15 or 1200 Microsoft Points.

Costume Quest incorporates elements of exploration of adventure video games and character growth of role-playing games. In the adventure part of the game, the player character explores their neighborhood, seeking out quests that reward the character with hints to the sibling's location, more candy (a type of currency for interactions with other children), and costume parts that can be used to alter the character's costume. The character can also befriend up to 4 non-player characters that can help with some aspects of quest solving.

In battle, the children transform into giant versions of their costumes, and use their abilities to fight monsters and other similarly-transformed children. At times, the player characters will encounter other children or monsters, leading to the battle mode for the game. Here the children become giant versions of what costumes they are wearing, along with abilities reflected by that costume; for example, a child wearing a makeshift robot costume becomes a giant mechanized robot, while a child wearing a medieval sweater becomes a knight in armor and sword. Battles are turn-based, allowing the player to select attacks, blocks, or a special move that requires hitting a quick-time event at the right moment to achieve maximum damage to their foes. Winning battles leads to additional rewards towards the player's main quest.

UPDATE!!!!

DLC annoucned for winter!

"Grubbins on ice"

The game takes place in the chilly, snow-caked land of Repugnia for more child-on-Grubbin action. The DLC will bring with it new costumes and a whole new storyline, and a few game enhancements including a new save system and the ability to pause during cut-scenes. So you can stop and savor every line of dialogue, of course

you can find some right little gems on PSN or XBL acrade store.

Titles such as these are cheap and can provide hours of fun... I'll take a look, as not only that these sort of games I can sometimes get the gf to play, means we can both enjoy the PS3 and that has to be a good thing..

thanks for posting this up.

Oh and Double Fine have made some great games in the past. Brutal Legend was a great game, sadly forgotten about..

A day 1 purchase for me. Brutal Legend was one of my favourite games last year and this looks mighty fine. Do we know when it's out yet?

Double Fine were meant to be working on Brutal Legend II, sadly EA canned it and Double Fine were left with nothing to work on..

so, they started to work on indie games, the whole company were put into small development teams, and the best ideas will be published.

This is the first title of those ideas... Brutal Legend was a great game, sadly it just didn't sell too well - which was a shame. It was partly due to the RTS style gameplay and the short single player mode they reckon..

I thought Brutal Legend was a fab idea, and it played great but it was too short and the RTS style was off putting in places, but it worked and the game was funny in places.

Brutal legend was a great game until the RTS element kicked in, it they had left it as a third person action adventure for the whole game it would have been great

True, I knew as soon as the RTS kicked in many wouldn't like it as much. Although it was funny when Schafer called kotick a *****k for trying to get the game not published... Shame kotick was correct about the game not going to sell well.

EA cancelled the second due to poor sales. Double Fine seem to have a history of great ideas for games, that just don't sell well.

This. Such a great start to a game ruined by some utterly **** gameplay, the combat was dull beyond belief. Pity as the setting, voice acting and characters was excellent.

I still forgave the game it's trite rts because I enjoyed the rest so much.

Beat the game last night and cleaned up the remaining achievements this morning.

What a brilliant game !!

Can't believe how hooked it had me, excellent storytelling, good humour and a nice battle system. Anyone else played/playing this gem ?

Totally missed this off my radar, will buy it as soon as I get some points.

Double Fine are great (going to start Psychonauts again soon).

Been really enjoying this since release (not had time to dedicate LOADS of hours to it) but im almost near the end now. Then i will go back and finish it all off for its full 200 points. Been a great little game and im pleased i got it on release. The humor is top notch and it really had me laughing at some bits.

Really suggest those looking for a casual RPG to give it a shot. Its short/funny/Great battle system/brilliant art style. what more could you ask for?

Oh and Double Fine have made some great games in the past.

All 2 of them? ;)

There's actually a pretty good interview with Tim Schaefer in the latest Games(TM) mag where he mocks his own game output.

Costume Quest is one of 4 games made by the various people who had nothing to do when Brutal Legend 2 got canned.

The most exciting news is that Ron Gilbert is on board for one of them :D

I've not bought Costume Quest yet, but the demo was excellent, it's definitely one I'll pick up when I've got a bit of spare cash.

well ive finished it (yes im slow) need to go back through to get the last few Achi points but they are all fairly easy by the looks of things

Got a sweet pumpkin head for an award too!
