upgrade advice needed 4870x2 to ?

Hi

My system E6320@ 2.8Ghz
4GB ram
Radeon HD4870x2

I got myself a Asus 3D monitor and want to play my fav game BF2 in 3d

Should I get a GTX 460? GTX470? don't think I can afford a 480 with my budget.

Also thinking of getting a QXXX CPU, would that make any difference?

to be fair, 4870x2 is faster than GTX 470 in most games that are out. you could try the gtx 460 in SLI if budget allows and you don't plan to SLI a 470, should easily get it for less than the 480. Even the 768MB 460 in SLI would be an "upgrade".
 
I have same GFX Card as you and in BF at 1920x1200 with everything on Max and it runs fine no frame rate problems at all and I had to replace A Transistor on it as well that feel off and its still going :)
I am looking / waiting to upgraded as well the GFX card not because it is slow but because I now want the DX11 stuff :) Only problem for me is with what ever I get I need an FullCover waterblock for it as well

what is the best way to test my system? I just found out I have a background process causing 100 CPU load all the time in the past few days, could be that?
 
very much so. you could try something like gamebooster. otherwise you'd need to check out all the processes running in the background.

Wow somethings not right there m8 as i have the same card and can turn everything bar aa to full whack on bf2 and i have the same gcard that u do.
Can you list the rest of your specs?

at 470 or a 5870 is not an upgrade from your card, it's a sidestep at best unless you want DX11

wait for a 6970 or get a 5970 or 580.
 
he has malware issues. >.<

solve it and it'll be like having a new gfx card.

run those 2 programs I said. (if u have antivirus programs make sure it's updated and do a quick scan afterwards).

So glad you pointed out the spelling mistake why the :confused: after?,is it a crime in your eyes for people to make a simple mistake,has it even entered you brain some people simply struggle with spelling more than others

These forums would be lost without you going around checking peoples post for mistakes wouldn't they.
 
I disable the mcbuilder.exe process and the CPU gone back to 98% idle
